Position Overview: The Accounting Manager, CPA oversees the full scope of the organization’s financial leadership, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and ongoing analysis of key performance metrics. This role ensures accurate accounting operations, strong internal controls, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective cash‑flow and risk management. This individual also leads the finance and accounting team while optimizing systems, processes, and technology to support operational efficiency and business insights. Beyond core financial stewardship, the position collaborates across departments, contributes to organizational development, supports business growth initiatives, and actively participates in company culture, leadership development, and team‑wide engagement activities.

Responsibilities: 
Financial Planning, Budgeting, & Analysis 
  • Assist with annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes from both financial and operational perspectives. 
  • Provide financial planning and analysis support including budget/forecast to actual and pertinent financial & operational KPI analysis 
  • Review, approve, record, track and analyze all budgeted capital expenditures 
  • Forecast and manage short term cash flow and key business metrics weekly/monthly 
 
Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations 
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and financial reporting packages. 
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and supporting schedules, reconciliations, and write-ups for internal and external reporting, including operational and regional segment reporting, variances/trends vs. budget/prior periods, and recommendations 
  • Oversee the recording of financial and non-financial transactions in accordance with US GAAP including managerial/intercompany transactions 
  • Maintain an orderly accounting system and records including the chart of accounts, revenue, expense, asset, liability, and equity transactions 
  • Ensure general ledger payroll entries, accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions are processed accurately, timely and with appropriate approvals 
 
Internal Controls, Compliance, & Risk Management 
  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal control structure for Finance/Accounting department and organization including cash receipts, cash disbursements, project/job costing, monthly close and general ledger account reconciliation processes 
  • Oversee and optimize cash flow management through cash receipts, cash disbursements, planned purchases, current cash balances and investments, and liquidity related to working capital line of credit 
  • Comply with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings, including employee withholding oversight and reporting 
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage financial & operational risks to the organization including risk mitigation strategies and annual insurance coverage renewals 
 
Systems, Technology, & Process Optimization 
  • Oversee and optimize software systems environment including accounting & ancillary transaction software to streamline accounting functions, and work with operations project management software to maximize efficiencies and gain business insights. 
  • Maintain existing accounting system, billing, purchasing/inventory, and related systems and evaluate new systems as requested/needed 
 
Leadership, Team Management, & Cross-Functional Collaboration 
  • Oversee all accounting and finance personnel 
  • Attend and actively participate in leadership development training and coaching 
  • Participates in marketing and business development as the need arises 
  • Participates in emergency services when an “All hands-on deck” scenario arises 
  • Participate in Paul Davis social events, Goal Setting and Review, All Team Meetings. and other opportunities  
  • Complete special assignments and other duties as assigned by Supervisor 
 
Requirements: 
Required: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline 
  • 5 years of accounting and finance experience 
  • CPA 
Preferred: 
  • Public accounting and job cost accounting experience  
  • Experience in general construction or building restoration 
Physical: 
  • Ability to consistently type, use a mouse, and look at a screen for extended periods.  
  • Stand and sit for long periods of time

  • Clear, proactive communication in written and spoken English  
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills.  
  • Accounting (Quickbooks/SageIntacct), Reporting (PowerBI/Qvinci) knowledge  
  • Excellence with Office 365 programs including Outlook, Excel, Word, and more 
  • Experience with CRM Software (NextGear Solutions/Salesforce) 
  • High degree of urgency in serving internal and external customers  
  • Work independently and efficiently as a reliable team member in a deadline-oriented environment  
  • Manage time effectively and adapt schedule to changing priorities  
  • Adept with technology and able to learn and operate industry-related software
