Job Description: Senior IT Business Analyst (Process Mapping & Cybersecurity Documentation) Position Overview

Join a large-scale documentation recovery and cybersecurity initiative focused on improving operational resilience across a complex IT organization. This role partners directly with IT leadership and technical subject-matter experts to discover undocumented processes, create detailed workflow documentation, identify operational gaps, and establish sustainable documentation standards.

The work produced in this engagement will directly support cybersecurity, disaster recovery, knowledge transfer, and long-term operational continuity.

What You'll Do

Lead discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, and facilitated workshops

Inventory existing IT, infrastructure, security, application, and recovery documentation

Analyze and document current-state business and IT processes

Create process maps, workflow diagrams, inventories, matrices, and analysis artifacts using Microsoft Visio and Microsoft 365

Identify documentation gaps, process risks, and opportunities for standardization

Gather, validate, prioritize, and organize requirements for operational documentation

Collaborate closely with Technical Writers and IT leadership

Facilitate validation sessions to ensure documented processes accurately reflect operations

Maintain documentation backlog, priorities, ownership, and dependencies

Support documentation governance, templates, review cycles, and repository organization

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience

10+ years of business analysis experience in complex IT or technology environments

Strong requirements elicitation, interviewing, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills

Advanced Microsoft 365 proficiency, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint

Strong Microsoft Visio skills for process mapping and workflow documentation

Experience collaborating with technical SMEs across infrastructure, applications, service delivery, cybersecurity, or similar IT disciplines

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with documentation recovery, knowledge management, or process standardization initiatives

Experience documenting cybersecurity, infrastructure, disaster recovery, business continuity, or IT service management processes

Experience with SharePoint documentation repositories and governance

Familiarity with ITIL, NIST, CIS, or similar frameworks

Government or other highly regulated environment experience

CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, PMP, ITIL Foundation, or comparable certification
