Pay Range: Pay range:  The full pay range for this role is $17.93 to $29.90 per hour.  The target pay for this position is $22.00 to $25.00 per hour. We generally base our salary decisions on factors such as internal equity, candidate work and/leadership experience, educational credentials, and in some cases, candidate work location. 

Summary:

This internship position will support the Transmission & Interconnection team in documenting interconnection processes related to the interconnection of renewable energy projects across key jurisdictions. The intern will work closely with the interconnection team members to capture, organize, and update critical information regarding interconnection procedures, requirements, exposure and workflows. This role involves gathering data from various stakeholders, creating clear and concise process documentation, and helping to develop standardized templates and guidelines. This internship will offer valuable exposure to the technical and procedural aspects of interconnection management and process improvement. 

Internship Duration:

This is a 12- week Hybrid internship with an option of working from the Bloomington MN office or Houston TX. Relocation will not be provided for this position.

Responsibilities

Goals of the Internship:

  • Conduct research and analysis of key interconnection related materials, including tariffs, TO/RTOs presentations, study reports and business manuals 
  • Synthetize critical information in clear and concise documentation
  • Manage the Interconnection Documentation system where all documentation will be located and organized by Development region 

Skills to acquire:

  • Reasonably comprehend and develop proficiency in basic details of interconnection processes across key regions  
  • Assess variations in processes and relative to FERC order 2023 
  • Develop proficiency in understanding of utility and RTO tariffs/OATT 

Working Conditions:90% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers, phones, and general office equipment. 10% of time is spent outside of the office attending site visits and trade/industry shows. 

Qualifications

Education/Experience:  

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program 
  • Prior experience in renewable energy, investment banking, or management consulting a plus 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Ability to learn quickly 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Strong analytical and research skills 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and comfort using web-based industry intelligence solutions 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with minimum supervision
