About the Job:
Sr. Process Improvement (Investigation)
Job Summary: 
In this role, you will assist in the development and implementation of process improvement efforts to support various ES&H (Environmental, Safety, and Health) tasks, particularly in the areas of learning from incidents, data capture and reportability, incident investigation, root cause analysis, and Six Sigma. You will provide technical support and participate in the project’s ES&H Learning and Development activities, with a strong emphasis on incident investigation and corrective action planning. You will also support the identification of ES&H trends and needs through inspection of project field execution activities. This role works directly with other project-level functions (e.g., engineering, construction, subcontracts, procurement, project controls, document controls) to help them address applicable ES&H requirements in their work activities.
 
Major Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates a wide variety of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) disciplines to facilitate implementation of company's ES&H program and ES&H Management System, including aiding compliance with company's ES&H standards, applicable regulatory requirements, and contractual commitments.
  • Directly responsible for the development and implementation of incident investigation and root cause analysis programs in the project.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary for the safety and health of employees and protection of the environment and communities.
  • Maintains ES&H databases, inclusive of incident events, audit/assessment findings, and corrective actions.
  • Performs statistical analysis of ES&H data to identify performance trends and contributing factors as part of continuous improvement and makes recommendations accordingly.
  • Identifies and coordinates unique software systems and electronic innovation used by ES&H personnel.
  • Leads teams in conducting risk assessment, studies, mitigation planning, and monitoring in response to ES&H issues.
  • Prepares communications, writes reports, and prepares documents for program execution and records retention.
  • Coordinates incident notifications, leads investigations, and prepares incident investigation reports.
  • Conducts root cause analysis using tools such as 5-Why, Why Tree, and Barrier Analysis to identify systemic issues and develop SMART corrective actions.
  • Recommend and implement improvements in processes, procedures, and work activities to minimize hazard potential.
  • Participates in and may lead employee training focused on incident investigation and emergency preparedness. Coordinates ES&H recognition programs.
  • Research moderately complex issues and provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
  • Provides support to ES&H field and office personnel, inclusive of all ES&H disciplines.
 
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to environmental, safety, health, education, or a science-related discipline and 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of relevant work experience in lieu.
 
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong experience in project construction and in-depth knowledge of Safety.
  • Experience and knowledge working with Environmental and Health construction standards.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and industry standards and criteria relevant to ES&H incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Experience as an instructor and trainer in incident investigation and the ability to organize training for large numbers of employees is preferred
  • Must be able to write executive reports, develop presentations on project safety topics, and manage assigned resources.
  • Knowledge of learning and development systems, both ES&H applications and automation methods, and the application of computers to associated process improvement tasks.
  • General knowledge of drafting and producing investigation reports, training, and communication tools.
  • Demonstrated ability in oral and written communication and in preparing clear and comprehensive correspondence.
  • Familiar with company's Advanced Incident Investigation process is preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required.
