Job Description:

Sun Life is seeking a Renewal Underwriting Analyst to join our team! In this role, you will act as a vital support for Account Executives on the Business Development team to maximize renewal outcomes for Sun Life. Reporting to the Director, Business Development, the Renewal Underwriting Analyst will optimize required rates, act as a liaison between underwriting and business development, and provide insights into the claim experience through collecting and analyzing data and working with Account Executives to position renewals to advisors. Please note that this role does not directly interact with advisors/clients.

What will you do?

  • Review, analyze and evaluate the claim experience for trends that may impact renewals and make recommendations on the renewal positioning

  • In conjunction with the Account Executive, collaboratively work with underwriting to articulate rationale for renewal increases

  • Work in collaboration with the Account Executive to develop the renewal strategy and supporting rationale that will be provided to the client

  • Develop renewal letter and supporting documentation for the Account Executive to present to the client

What do you need to succeed?

  • 3 to 5 years in a group underwriting/technical analyst role

  • Post-secondary education and a CEBS or GBA designation

  • Solid understanding of underwriting and renewal methodology, and Group Benefits products and processes

  • Strong knowledge of advisor environment and expectations

  • Ability to creatively position renewals to maximize renewal outcomes

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
