Job description

Job Summary

The Engineering Manager manages all engineering activities within the department including supervision of the engineering team. The Engineering Manager implements and maintains overall engineering objectives and initiatives. This role oversees a robust project management process and delivery timelines to keep projects on schedule and on budget.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.
  • May give input into developing the budget.
  • Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
  • Leads or supervises continuous improvement activities.
  • Has overall responsibility for Estimating, PDM (part data management), NPI (new product introduction), Manufacturing Engineering (NC programming, work holding development).
  • Manages APQP, ECR/ PCN and New product launch.
  • Interacts daily with Sales, Production, & Quality personnel.
  • Attends MRB meetings.
  • Coaches and develops the engineering team with company goals and guidelines in mind.
  • Provides engineering support to customers and suppliers.
  • Evaluates direct reports, creates & executes training and development plans.
Required Skills & Attributes
  • Excellent attention to details & well organized.
  • Ability to multitask & manage multiple projects.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in CAD (Solidworks).
  • Computer literate (MS Office, Adobe, email).
  • Knowledge of CAM (Partmaker/Mastercam) & CNC programing.
  • High proficiency in blueprint reading including GD&T and inspection techniques.
  • Experience with MRP software.
  • Must possess knowledge of materials (machinability).
  • Familiarity with various plating & heat-treating processes.
  • Independent & willing to take initiative.
  • Strong work ethic & highly motivated.
  • Must follow all safety rules.
Education & Experience
  • BS in Engineering/Manufacturing Engineering
  • Solid background in CNC machining (Turning/Milling)
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience
