Job description

General Job Description:

The primary responsibilities of this role are to recruit, develop, supervise, and manage engineering department personnel, and the associated processes and standards. Other responsibilities include engineering group resource planning and cost control.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and direct recruiting effort for new engineering department staff
  • Direct mentoring and training of Engineer Supervisors and Team Leads
  • Collaborate with Sales Management in career planning of engineering and sales staff
  • Oversee, assign, coordinate and schedule all incoming projects
  • Ensure Project Managers defined scope is provided and delivered in accordance with project schedules
  • Ensure application reviews are conducted on projects
  • Daily supervision of engineering personnel and department activities
  • Responsible for development and ongoing maintenance of standard BIM and engineering practices including quality assurance process and procedures in alignment with enterprise standards
  • Responsible for performance and salary reviews for Engineering Department personnel and make recommendations to Director of Engineering
  • Assist with pre-sales efforts including system selection / evaluation, code and application review, energy study and life cycle costing
  • Evaluate potential projects and approaches to minimize corporate risk
  • Develop a collaborative and engaged culture between engineers and other departments
  • Develop and oversee departmental budget
  • Effectively and professionally communicate with colleagues and project team members
  • Manage time to meet project schedules and task deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

Position Requirements:

  • BS in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 10+ years of experience with 5 years in a leadership position managing engineers
  • Professional Engineering license highly desirable
  • Excellent understanding of engineering fundamentals and constructability
  • Excellent familiarity with Building Codes and industry standards
  • Strong understanding of building modeling
  • Skilled in developing teams and managing people

Hours:

This is an exempt position from Monday through Friday. In general, work hours begin and end between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm and are determined by the department head.
