Horner & Shifrin is seeking a full-time Project Engineer to work in the Illinois region of our Transportation business unit. The position requires 5+ years of experience. This position is responsible for assisting & leading project teams, developing engineering solutions, and delivering a thorough and comprehensive end product.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
  • Resolve engineering problems and tasks as they are assigned, with help as needed from more experienced staff
  • Perform transportation engineering analyses and calculations
  • Prepare and write engineering and other reports
  • Work as part of a team to complete general transportation engineering services for municipal, county, and state agencies
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and feasibility studies
  • Develop engineering plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E)
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred)
  • Ability to lead, manage and schedule staff to meet project needs
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience working with the Illinois Department of Transportation and local municipalities (preferred)
  • Use of Microsoft Office Products (e. g. Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Proficient in the use of MicroStation with OpenRoadsDesigner/Geopak or AutoCAD with Civil 3D
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must complete a background check
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

SALARY RANGE:
