The Quality Engineering Specialist is responsible for ensuring that lithium-ion battery cells produced at the plant meet Ford's quality, safety, and performance standards throughout the manufacturing process. This role involves monitoring key process parameters, analyzing SPC data to detect variation, and driving root-cause investigations and corrective actions (CAPA) for defects or yield losses.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900. 
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.

What you'll do...

  • Respond promptly to daily quality abnormalities; lead containment, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Monitor SPC, FAI, MES inspections, FIFO material control, error-proofing (poka-yoke), rework, and equipment qualification for winding, cell assembly, and electrolyte fill stations.
  • Manage change control (4M) and ensure effective process response plans (control plans, PFMEA).
  • Identify quality risks (e.g., moisture control, electrolyte handling) and drive preventive/corrective actions.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report production quality performance metrics, identifying trends and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead quality improvement projects using structured problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, FMEA).
  • Support process audits, customer audits, and Layered Process Audits (LPA).
  • Ensure compliance with battery safety standards (e.g., UN38.3, dry room, EHS requirements).
  • Coach and develop PQE technicians.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
  • Must be comfortable with effectively presenting information to top management and public groups.

    Candidates must possess full flexibility and a readiness to consistently work across all established standard, operating, and rotational shift schedules, encompassing day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
