Specializing in water, energy, and waste management, Veolia Group designs and implements innovative solutions for decarbonization, depollution, and resource regeneration, supporting communities and industries in their ecological transformation.

Within this framework, Veolia's Water Technology Business brings together a dedicated team of
experienced professionals committed to tackling the world’s most complex challenges related to
water scarcity, quality, productivity, and energy. Together, we pursue a shared mission to create a
more sustainable future.

Job Description

Process Engineers on the Process Engineering team are key partners for customers in the North American market. They are creative technical leaders who support the successful sale, engineering, commissioning, and operation of complete system solutions. To deliver winning solutions, they apply deep technical knowledge of our solutions and technologies combined with an understanding of the customer’s process, the market, regulations, and our competitors to continually balance technical risk with commercial viability.

On complex flow sheets with multiple unit processes, a Process Engineering Project Technical Leader - Microelectronics is included on the project to own the overall solution for our customer in collaboration with one or more Process Engineers with expertise in the various technologies used in the flow sheet. A Process Engineering Project Technical Leader - Microelectronics requires the abilities and expertise of a Process Engineer, and the technical, leadership, and communication skills of an Engineering Project Manager. The Process Engineering Project Technical Leader - Microelectronics requires domain expertise to act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and technical point of contact in customer and internal communications. From a technical perspective, they have responsibility for the overall treatment solution including strategizing on the creation of that solution (safety factors, flow fluctuations, assumptions), identifying and managing the impacts that any given unit process will have on upstream/downstream unit processes as well as process risks, and owning the overall process flow
diagram, accompanying flow and quality balance, and overall process guarantees. From a leadership perspective, they proactively communicate across the team of Process Engineers, manage the process deliverables (schedules, assignments), and represent Process Engineering in review meetings at the
bidding and engineering stages. If process issues arise, they lead the troubleshooting effort and
resolution.

As the focal point of the Process Team for projects, the Process Engineering Project Technical Leader - Microelectronics functions as a dual-path expert. Their time allocation is strategically divided into approximately 60% Communication, Organization, and Coordination, where they manage process deliverables, schedules, and cross-functional representation. The remaining approximately 40% is dedicated to Technical Expertise, acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) who owns the overall treatment solution, including process guarantees and the troubleshooting of complex issues.

The Process Engineering Project Technical Leader - Microelectronics for the Microelectronics market will lead proposals and projects in execution for our Microelectronics customers’ ultrapure water (UPW), wastewater, and reclaim treatment needs.

Key Characteristics:

  • Leadership
  • Customer focus and commercial mindset
  • Analytical mindset
  • Creativity
  • Responsibility
  • Collaboration
  • Accountability

Duties and Responsibilities:

Microelectronics Project Technical Leaders lead the process design of ultrapure, wastewater, and reclaim treatment solutions for the Microelectronics industry.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Align a team of Process Engineers working together on a flow sheet to a strategy (including influent design basis, safety factors, handling of flow variations, how to meet the customer’s needs, how to win against the competition), a list of deliverables, and a schedule, and ensure that all process deliverables meet quality and schedule for the project
  • Lead the design of complete water, wastewater, or waste treatment solutions (flow sheet, unit processes, process parameters) that will meet the customer’s requirements for a given influent and required effluent stream qualities using various in house and industry design tools, acting as the leader for a team of Process Engineers providing technical expertise on specific portions of the overall flowsheet.
  • Apply advanced treatment technologies including biological treatment, ammonia removal, solids separation, low- and high-pressure membrane treatment (ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis - conventional and high-pH), ion exchange, UV treatment, and gas-transfer membrane processes to meet the stringent requirements specific to the microelectronics industry
  • Own the overall Process Flow Diagram (PFD), associated flow tables or mass balance, and overall process guarantees, including management of the interconnections between unit processes and consideration of any impacts of one unit process on upstream or downstream unit processes, with input from the Process Engineers on the team.
  • Engage in piloting and benchmarking and treatability studies as part of design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of UPW treatment solutions
  • Serve as a lead technical contact with our customers, building partnership relationships, and representing the team of Process Engineers working on the flow sheet together
  • Serve as the lead technical contact with other functions working together on the project
  • Identify and support management of technical risks related to the treatment process (flow sheet, unit processes, achievement of outputs), including compiling the risks throughout the flow sheet in collaboration with the Process Engineers on the project team
  • Troubleshoot technical issues using data and observations
  • Understand relevant regulations and liaise with regulatory agencies as needed
  • Own and be accountable for the success of assigned projects throughout project development as measured by achieving treatment requirements (successful operation) and customer satisfaction through proactive communication, collaboration, and leadership of corrective action management, in collaboration with the team of Process Engineers on the project
  • Demonstrate Veolia’s expertise in the external market through customer and conference presentations
  • Provide training and 1:1 coaching to members of the Process Engineering team

Industry Leadership and Expertise:
A Process Engineering Project Technical Leader builds long-term relationships with customers and key experts in the industry and presents at industry conferences and technical forums to position Veolia as experts within the microelectronics market. They serve as an expert within the business, participating in innovation of solutions, technologies, and markets, and training and mentoring others in process design.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
