Engineering Manager

Hypha AI, Inc

New York, NY • On-site

Full-time

Job description

About Hypha
Hypha is an AI-native platform transforming asset management across the full lifecycle-acquisition, management, and exit. Focused on healthcare facilities and multifamily real estate, we're revolutionizing the industry through three key pillars:
  • Observability: Providing real-time visibility into asset performance, deal progress, and market conditions for all stakeholders
  • Intelligence: Enabling AI-driven multidimensional optimization with risk scores, tax strategies, and benchmarking
  • Orchestration: Creating seamless workflows and a single source of truth to eliminate inefficiencies

Role Overview
As an Engineering Manager at Hypha, you'll lead a team responsible for building and improving a core product area while helping shape the technical direction of the platform. You'll work closely with product, design, and leadership to set priorities, plan roadmaps, and ensure the team is focused on delivering high-impact work.
This is a hands-on role. You'll guide sprint planning, unblock engineers, and maintain a high bar for engineering quality, while also contributing directly in the codebase. You'll design systems, review architecture decisions, and work alongside your team to ship features that power Hypha's core product.
We're looking for someone who has managed engineers before and understands that the role is about enabling the team to do their best work. That means setting clear direction, creating fast feedback loops, removing obstacles, and building an environment where engineers can move quickly while maintaining high standards.
Core Competencies
  • Proven engineering management - You've managed a team of engineers. You know how to run sprints, set expectations, give direct feedback, and help people grow. You've hired engineers and built teams.
  • Hands-on technical ability - You can design systems, write production TypeScript, and make sound architectural decisions. Your team respects your technical judgment because you're in the code with them.
  • Product orientation - You think about what your team builds in terms of user outcomes, not just task completion. You push for clarity on requirements and make trade-off decisions that balance speed, scope, and quality.
  • Operational rigor - You keep the team moving. You're organized, you follow through, and you create structure without bureaucracy. Standups are useful, sprint planning is focused, and retros lead to real changes.
  • AI-fluent - You use AI coding tools daily and know how to wield them effectively - as a multiplier on top of strong fundamentals. You help your team adopt effective AI workflows.
Ideal Candidate
  • Lead a team of engineers - set priorities, run sprints, and own delivery for your product area
  • Write code - you'll spend a meaningful portion of your time building features and reviewing code
  • Hire and grow engineers - conduct interviews, onboard new team members, and provide regular feedback
  • Own technical quality for your area - architecture decisions, code review standards, and testing practices
  • Partner with product and design to shape the roadmap and define what your team builds next
  • Identify and remove blockers before they slow the team down
  • Work with the Head of Engineering on cross-team initiatives, processes, and engineering culture
  • Bachelor's degree minimum
What Sets You Apart
  • Experience managing in a fast-growing startup environment
  • Experience with our stack (Next.js, Supabase, PostgreSQL, Inngest)
  • Background in AI/ML product development
  • Experience scaling a team through a period of rapid hiring
Why Join Hypha
  • Be at the cutting edge of applied AI
  • Have a large scope and massive impact on the company
  • Work directly with the leadership team
  • Strong career growth opportunities as we scale
  • Competitive compensation package: $250-$400k base salary and equity

If you're ready to help build the future of asset management and are excited by the challenge of bringing AI-driven solutions to complex financial workflows, we want to hear from you.
