Position Summary:
This role will have a broad range of technical responsibilities that include project management, production support, process improvement, and plant infrastructure. This person will assist in plant operations contributing towards improving manufacturing efficiencies by utilizing continuous improvement techniques. The process engineer is responsible forthe development and implementation of design systems andtools andmanages Lean Manufacturing activities at the plant.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible overseeing successful planning and execution of small and large capital projects for plant operations. Responsibilities include defining project scope, developing solutions, and partnering with vendors, consultants, and contractors to develop and install projects. Drive control schedule to accomplish projects on time and within cost estimate
  • Composite manufacturing experience means hands-on work building, shaping, or repairing parts made from advanced combined materials like carbon fiber, fiberglass, or Kevlar.
  • Lead team in the identification of production and process changes, partner with operations leadership to develop and implement engineered improvements, resulting in greater operational efficiencies
  • Manage a portfolio of lean projects directed at reducing waste and improving quality to provide greater valve; implements such tools as: 6S, KPI, and Kaizen.
  • Train and lead cross-functional continuous improvement teams; focusing on measurable quality, service and cost improvements; mentor green belts.
  • Trains, coaches and motivates personnel in the understanding and adoption of new principles and techniques
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and development for Process Engineer interns and Production teams; assisting in setting annual operational targets and help drive improvements to achieve those targets
  • Performs other related duties assigned by management.

Education and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Chemical)
  • 4+ years' Engineering experience (Project, Process, or Plant)
  • 2+ years' experience in composite manufacturing (carbon fiber, fiberglass or Kevlar)
  • Must have previous experience managing multiple large projects simultaneously
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business/Operations or Supply Chain or related discipline
  • 10+ years Engineering experience
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification and strong LEAN Manufacturing expertise: 5-10 years with black belt
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the basic principles, theories, concepts, and practices in the quality specialization.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

Physical Requirements: Qualified applicants must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Must be able to lift up-to 10 pounds for 3+ hours per shift

  • Must be able to sit for 8+ hours per shift
