Job description

The Corporate Development Associate will be responsible for conducting market research, analyzing and completing financial models, and supporting the existing Corporate Development team in executing M&A deals and transitions from closed deals to business operation integration.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Development, this position will participate in supporting all transaction phases, including sourcing and pipeline development, negotiation, due diligence, and integration.

The ideal candidate for this position will exhibit strong critical thinking skills and an in-depth knowledge of financial modeling. This individual should also have experience interacting with company executives; strong project management, time management and organizational skills; strong analytical skills; a strong work ethic; and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

The position will be located at Alarm.com's headquarters in Tysons, Virginia. Periodic travel to the locations of target companies and industry events may be required from time to time.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and execution of the corporate development strategy by working with leadership on all transaction phases
  • Support stakeholders across the organization to ensure acquisitions are seamlessly integrated
  • Assist in sourcing investment opportunities within target industries and provide requested evaluation and review of the targeted companies' technology platform, financials, business strategy, and other relevant data
  • Interpret, translate, and build financial and operating intelligence models to assist with evaluation of target companies and/or integration into Alarm.com FP&A models
  • Assist in the development of deal materials, briefings, approval decks, and various ad-hoc presentations both internally & externally to provide investment cases for approval
  • Provide continuous research on industry trends and shifts that might impact the overall global growth strategy and perform ad hoc analyses, as needed
  • Assist in the development of and improvement of corporate development processes for pipeline development, deal evaluation, due diligence, and integration
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Formal Education:

  • A completed bachelor's Degree is required.
    • A concentration in Finance or Business Management is preferred

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in business or financial analysis
  • Experience interacting with company executives
  • Experience in banking as a sell-side or buy-side associate/analyst, private-equity firm analyst, or similar consulting experience is a plus
  • Experience with SaaS-driven technology businesses is a plus

Skills:

  • Self-starter with strong analytical skills including the ability to interpret data, question the results, generate insights and construct solutions
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities and deals concurrently
  • Strong communication, presentation, leadership, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high-growth, global company
  • Data-driven and goal-oriented, with experience measuring and reporting both quantitatively and qualitatively
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills

The base salary range of this opportunity is listed below and is determined within a range based on factors including qualifications, location and experience. This allows opportunity for growth and development within the role. The base salary offered is part of a total compensation package.
