Job Title: CAD Specialist
Job Type: Contract to Hire
Job Salary: $33/hour-$35/hour
Job Schedule: M-F, 40 hrs/week
Job Location: Houston, TX 77042

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD Specialist to support engineering, design, and drafting projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining technical drawings and documentation using AutoCAD and other CAD software. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical specifications, and collaboration with project managers, engineers, architects, and field personnel.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Create, revise, and maintain 2D and 3D CAD drawings, layouts, and technical documentation.
  • Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, redlines, and design concepts to produce accurate drawings.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with company standards, industry requirements, and project specifications.
  • Perform quality control reviews of drawings and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain organized electronic drawing files and document control procedures.
  • Coordinate with engineering, project management, operations, and field teams to incorporate design changes.
  • Update as-built drawings and project documentation as required.
  • Assist with project planning, drafting support, and technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate project status, design updates, and potential issues to stakeholders.


Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Drafting, CAD Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of CAD drafting/design experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of drafting standards, technical drawings, and design documentation.
  • Experience working with engineering, construction, manufacturing, architectural, or industrial projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, SolidWorks, Inventor, MicroStation, or other 3D modeling software.
  • Experience creating and maintaining as-built drawings.
  • Knowledge of construction, industrial, oil & gas, manufacturing, or infrastructure environments.
  • Experience with document management systems and engineering change processes.
  • Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and best practices.
