Description:
  •  This position monitors, controls, and maintains processes by ensuring manufacturing equipment is running efficiently and optimally in order to meet quality and safety standards 
Requirements:
  • Continuously monitor and control existing processes to assure compliance to process limits. Identify causes of unacceptable variation, downtime, and scrap, implement corrective actions, validate results, and document clearly the root cause and corrective actions on the Die Cast Pace sheet and process compliance sheets.
  • Ensure optimum process limits, documented in the Process setup books, are maintained and adhered to.
  • Work with Engineers on New Product and Replacement Die Launches. Process technicians will assist through the entire development of the casting process; from involvement in design review meetings, to initial sampling, to full production status. Ensuring quality and productivity targets are met.
  • Participate with Manufacturing Engineers in Continuous Improvement projects such as scrap reduction, up-time improvements, automation, cycle time reduction, and other projects.
  • Develop and follow Reaction Plans for correcting processes and for troubleshooting poor performing cells.
  • Provide all required documentation for QS audits regarding Process Control, Continuous Improvement and Permanent Corrective Action.
  • Perform Process Compliance audits with corrective and follow up actions completed as documented in the control plan.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the Central Die Lube, Micro-Spray and Tip Lube systems.
  • Manage Process Setup Sheets at the die cast machines. This includes maintaining them for accuracy and updating them when necessary. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Academic Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency Preferred
  • Bachelor’s/Associates degree preferred
  • Two years minimum hands on experience working with manufacturing equipment in a die cast environment preferred 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Must have a complete and thorough understanding of the die casting process, including but not limited to gating, metal flow, metal handling, tooling and safety.
  • Must be able to set up, program, operate and troubleshoot; sprayer, ladles,  extractors and other robots to optimize the process, beginning at the first piece sample. This includes basic, as well as advanced, aspects of ABB and Fanuc robot programming languages.
  • Must be able to set up and start up die cast machines.
  • Must be able to identify areas that need to be sprayed on a die, mount/position spray manifolds accordingly, and write a program to provide optimized die lubricant application.
  • Provide support for Engineering, relating to new and existing programs.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and support of all safety programs.
  • Operation of overhead cranes and be aware of the inspection and safety protocols.
  • Must understand and can troubleshoot basic I.O. concepts of PLC controllers.
  • Must understand basic Die Cast tooling design and construction. This includes the ability to troubleshoot thermal and hydraulic issues with the tooling.
  • Must be able to operate manual x-ray machine and assess porosity types and      levels as required by customer specifications.
