Job description

REPORTS TO: PCC Leader

SUPERVISES: N/A

AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work Execution and Monitoring

  • Support execution priority management to minimize project delays and improve overall performance
  • Maintain tracking and scheduling tools, ensuring transparency, accountability, and visibility into project progress and job completion
  • Facilitate and support weekly and daily facility meetings, collaborating with management across all departments and trades to ensure alignment on production objectives and priorities.
  • Apply established project management methodologies to ensure consistent, sustainable results across all initiatives and projects.
  • Develop, document, analyze, and report on key production metrics including throughput, cycle times, and TAKT times to drive performance insights, support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Produce, update, and maintain reports to support CAMs, ensuring accurate application and reporting of Earned Value Management (EVM) standards.
  • Collaborate with project and production teams to monitor performance, identify inefficiencies, and implement process improvements that enhance productivity and schedule adherence.

Work Planning

  • Work with Project Managers, Planning and Control Account Managers (CAMs) to develop baseline ship schedules, including budget distribution, cut sequences, panel/assembly TAKT times, and erect sequences and validate major milestone critical work, ensuring that key project milestones are met and aligned with overall program objectives.
  • Identify and help resolve production bottlenecks, implementing strategic solutions to streamline operations and drive rapid, measurable improvements
  • Conduct facility real estate "what-if" scenario analyses and propose actionable solutions to project and production teams to optimize space utilization and mitigate constraints.
  • Provide strategic solutions to address facility challenges, mitigate cost impacts, and minimize schedule delays in support of production and project management objectives.

Process Improvement

  • Leverage expertise in program management, lean methodologies, and data analysis to optimize workflows and enhance overall efficiency.
  • Integrate lean manufacturing principles into daily operations and decision-making to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve workflows.

Communication and Teaming

  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by motivating team members, promoting open communication, minimizing conflict, and maintaining high morale.
  • Work with Project Managers and Directors to prepare and deliver high-quality reports and briefings, presenting actionable insights to senior-level stakeholders and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or Project Management and 3+ years year's demonstrated experience in shipyards, ship repair, or USN, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledgeable in ship construction and relationships between trades.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Pro, Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Excel).
  • Working familiarity with Primavera (or equivalent scheduling software) - able to navigate, create layouts, filter within and export from a comprehensive IMS.
  • Experience in scheduling concepts as it relates to logic, manpower and other resource utilization.
  • Working familiarity with MRP Software and other Austal Proprietary Software.
  • Proficient in Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and performance measurement techniques.
  • Detail oriented and able to resolve most daily issues without specific supervisory direction.
  • Ability to organize and chair meetings.
  • Ability to present to a formal audience.
  • Effective communication skills to facilitate team work with various departments and effect customer satisfaction with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to determine schedule drivers.
  • Experience with Government contracts a plus.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing a plus.
  • US Citizenship required.
