PROCESS CONTROL CHEMIST

Location: Amelia, Ohio | Department: Production

Reports To: Quality Manager

Position Overview

The Process Control Chemist supports manufacturing operations by monitoring, analyzing, and improving production processes to ensure consistent quality and efficiency. This role applies process engineering, chemistry, SPC, and formulation knowledge while working closely with production, quality, and plant leadership to achieve first-pass quality and continuous improvement goals.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor and control production processes to ensure operation within established parameters.

- Collect, analyze, and interpret process data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.

- Apply SPC and Six Sigma tools to improve process capability and efficiency.

- Partner with Quality to investigate defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.

- Develop, document, and maintain formulation recipes and production calculations.

- Lead and support process trials, equipment studies, and validation activities.

- Perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions.

- Prepare and present written and verbal reports on testing, trials, and process performance.

- Promote a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.

Qualifications

- Bacheloras degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred; equivalent experience considered.

- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in process control, manufacturing, or technical engineering roles.

- Experience in paint, ink, pigment, dispersion, or chemical manufacturing environments strongly preferred.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of SPC methodologies and statistical analysis.

- Experience with Six Sigma tools and continuous improvement techniques.

- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Minitab or similar statistical software preferred.

- SAP experience a plus.

- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Work Environment

This position works across office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments and requires regular interaction with production operations. Exposure to noise, machinery, and airborne particles may occur. Physical activity includes standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
