Job Title

Associate

Job Purpose

The Associate will work on a publicly traded mortgage REIT. The position is a part of a strong team, and offers an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented individual with a background in accounting and finance. The role will be responsible for various finance and accounting tasks crucial to the success of the team.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist with month-end and quarter-end close process, i.e., journal entry posting and account reconciliations on Investment Portfolio, bank/cash reconciliations, and intercompany accounts
  • Assist in preparation and analyses of the Company’s financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements, and other management summaries and analysis
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly SEC filings, i.e., Form 10-Qs, Form 10-Ks, Form 8-Ks and earnings releases
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal deal, asset management, securitization, tax, investor relations, legal and capital markets teams
  • Interface with internal and external auditors
  • Develop and maintain workpapers that are SOX compliant
  • Own and take responsibility for all assigned areas

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Accounting/Finance Major – Bachelors or higher
  • 2-4 years in Audit and/or Accounting (Big4 experience is a major plus) at financial services firms
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines
  • Solid work ethic; professional and proactive approach to work
  • Must be a team player and obtain a positive attitude

Preferred Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Accounting for real estate and mortgage/debt instruments is a major plus
