ReStore Cashier/Associate PART-TIME POSITION _____ ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW Dorchester Habitat for Humanity is a Christian housing ministry based in Summerville, SC with a mission of putting God’s love into action by bringing people together building homes and hope. Dorchester Habitat ReStore is the chief fundraiser for Dorchester Habitat for Humanity. The sale of donated and purchased inventory in the ReStore helps to fund the Homeownership Program for Dorchester Habitat for Humanity. The ReStore Cashier position is a great opportunity for an individual to join a great organization and help their community! POSITION OVERVIEW This is a part-time role, reporting to our ReStore Manager and ReStore Assistant Managers. For this role, you will need to live in or near Summerville, SC and be willing to work in our Summerville, SC ReStore 5 days a week. You must have open availability MondaySaturday and able to work 30 hours a week; on occasion there is a need to work additional hours throughout the year. The ReStore Cashier may be asked to perform other duties deemed necessary by the ReStore Manager, ReStore Assistant Manager and/or Executive Director. MISSION The mission of the ReStore Cashier is to provide excellent customer service while maintaining a friendly, positive, polite, respectful, and helpful attitude. RESPONSIBILITIES The ReStore Cashier will have the following primary responsibilities: Manage and operate the sales counter. Operate the POS System. Process cash and credit card transactions, following established procedures for each type of transaction. Maintain and balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of shift. Keep up-to-date on methods of pricing, inventory and procedures. Distribution of donation receipts, information and/or marketing materials. Greet and assist customers and donors. Respond to customer and donor inquiries. Complete and maintain sold item and delivery records. Maintain a clean, orderly, and attractive sales counter area. Answer and process phone calls. Coordinate with managers and fellow cashier team members the sales process. Assist customers through the purchase pick-up process. Coordinate with customers their purchase pick-up or delivery. Communicate sales issues and problems to ReStore Manager and ReStore Assistant Managers. Uphold the ReStore and customer service policies, guidelines, and procedures, ensuring consistent and effective ReStore operations. Develop a thorough understanding of Dorchester Habitat for Humanity’s goals, mission, philosophy, and policies and demonstrates this understanding in daily interactions. Other duties as assigned by the ReStore Manager, ReStore Assistant Managers and/or Executive Director. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Clear SLED and FBI Check. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Basic math skills with willingness to learn POS System operations. Ability to accurately handle money and make correct change. Honesty and integrity in handling sales revenue. Ability to handle multiple demands and tasks calmly and professionally at one time and under pressure. Excellent customer service skills. Self-motivated. REQUIREMENTS Education: High school diploma or equivalent Experience: 1-3 years cashier experience. Physical: Ability to bend, reach, and lift boxes and office supplies up to 30 lbs. Ability to stand for at least 4 hours or more.
