Job description

Description:

Are you ready to shape the future of high-performance environments?

At SMRT, we donโ€™t just design buildingsโ€”we create spaces that drive innovation and solve complex challenges. As our next Process Architect, youโ€™ll lead transformative projects that blend technical precision with creative vision to support our clients. Many of our projects focus on the design of highly technical spaces that comply with cGMP regulations, protect the health and safety of occupants, drive businesses forward, and inspire workforces toward a shared objectiveโ€”delivering products, therapies, and lifesaving medication as efficiently as possible to the patients and partners who need them. Your work will influence how people utilize the built environment efficiently as well as performance, from concept through construction on projects requiring controlled environments for Life Science and Advanced Manufacturing as well as those required to meet cGMP regulations.

What Youโ€™ll Do:

  • Youโ€™ll guide architectural projects from start to finish, ensuring every detail meets the highest standards of design, performance, compliance and client requirements.
  • Lead coordination efforts with the client and their consultant/vendors
  • Lead documentation and design coordination across engineering disciplines
  • Ensure code and standards compliance through thorough research and review
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies throughout the permitting process
  • Manage project communications, including meeting notes, cost estimates, and agency feedback
  • Develop program requirements and oversee construction budgets and schedules
  • Direct the production of construction drawings and specifications
  • Facilitate collaboration among project teams, clients, and consultants
  • Uphold quality control standards and conduct peer reviews of complex projects
  • Mentor junior architectural staff and foster professional growth
  • Advance in specialized areas such as Design, Project Management, Technical Leadership, Sustainability, Project Delivery, and Construction Administration

What Makes SMRT Unique:

Weโ€™re a team of architects, engineers, planners, and professionals who thrive on solving complex challenges through design. Our clients bring us first-of-a-kind opportunities, tight deadlines, and ambitious goalsโ€”and we respond with curiosity, collaboration, and creativity. We engage our full design team from the start to define outcomes, sustainability targets, and stretch goals that guide every project. Founded in 1884, SMRT carries a legacy of innovation into the future, focused on technically complex, high-performance environments that shape communities and enhance lives.

Here, your creativity thrives. Flexible work arrangements support your rhythm. Wellness benefits reflect our belief that health starts with our team. And professional development is part of the journey. We cultivate an inclusive and supportive workplace where people feel fulfilled, challenged, and accepted. We listen, question, design, and deliverโ€”together.
