The Street Maintenance Division (SMD),is responsible formaintainingDenver's transportation infrastructure, including pothole repair, street repaving, street sweeping, and snow removal. Managing over 2,150 miles of roadways and more than 5,000 alleys, the division ensures safe and efficient mobility for residents and visitors while supporting ongoing infrastructure improvements across theCity. TheStreet Maintenance Engineering group (SMEng) is seeking a Staff Engineer to join our high performing team to support asset management and improvements associated with concrete and asphalt projects in the public right-of-way.

Specifically, as theStaff Engineeryou will:

  • Utilize applicable codes, standards, and regulationspertaining tocompliance work and perform management of civil engineering projects.

  • Manageprojectsfor street paving and concrete repaircontracts including alleys, curb and gutter, and curb ramps.

  • Utilize asset management software and applicationsto analyze and update infrastructure condition.

  • Coordinate inventory and condition assessmentof various transportation infrastructure assets.

  • Serve as the point of contact for theCityon project worksites, and coordinate the work of utility companies, other City departments, contractors, and sub-contractors throughout the duration of the project.

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including citizens,regardingconstruction activities and provide information and updates to address issues and problems.

  • Experience with databases and data analysis.

  • Experience with ArcGIS.

  • Working knowledge of curb ramp standards,regulationsand specifications.

  • Strong critical thinking skillsandindependent problem solvingwhile being an integral team member.

RequiredMinimum Qualifications

  • Education requirement:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.

  • Experience Requirement: None.

  • Education/Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education ispermitted.

  • License/Certifications: Certification as an Engineer Intern (EI) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) by successfully completing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) issued by a State licensing Board by the end of probation. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
