The Big Ten Network is looking for an On-Campus Content Freelancer to join its team. This role works closely with the On-Campus Multiplatform Video Producer/Editors (MVPEs), executing content plans and posting content to various social media platforms throughout the Big Ten athletics calendar.

This is a seasonal freelance position from July through May, offering roughly 40 hours per week, and is a hybrid position in the Chicago, IL, or Los Angeles, CA offices.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the team of On-Campus Multiplatform Video Producer/Editors (MVPEs) with day-to-day content management, planning, and distribution on social media platforms
  • Support the creative development, production, and preparation of On-Campus content across Big Ten Network's social, streaming, and broadcast multiplatform channels
  • Publish content across social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube) around live events
  • Collaborate with the entire digital team to drive daily content, monitor Big Ten news, and align on social media strategies and distribution
  • Ensure video content is optimized for social media consumption
  • Ensure all content is aligned with brand standards, quality, and voice
  • Distribute ad sales, sponsored social media campaigns driven by the On-Campus team
  • Deliver finished content to key internal stakeholders (Remote, Studio, Originals, Marketing)
  • Assist with social media analytics reporting to provide insights to the On-Campus team

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 1+ years of experience in social media, communications, or marketing
  • Able to work flexible hours, which will include nights and weekends
  • Deep knowledge of Big Ten athletics
  • Extensive knowledge of all things culturally relevant to Big Ten Athletics and pop culture
  • Organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and a team player
  • Familiarity with Big Ten Network's programming, talent, and brand initiatives
  • Detailed platform knowledge and experience posting content to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok & YouTube
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen editorial sense
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on a deadline
  • Always connected and tuned into the latest Big Ten news
  • Passionate about social media and the evolution of technology
  • Excellent writing skills and attention to detail with grammar, brand voice, and spelling
  • Outstanding organizational & project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide constructive feedback to others, as well as seek out and accept constructive feedback for your individual performance
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, take initiative, and meet strategic deadlines in a dynamic environment

NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or Sport Management undergraduate track
  • Experience with social media analytics - knowledge of the Emplifi platform
