Security Officer/Senior Security Officer (Full time, different shifts available) at Providence Portland Medical Center

Receives general direction from the Security Manager, Supervisor or Lead Security Officer, performs a variety of security protective duties to protect patients, visitors, staff, physicians, property and facilities from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Enforces PH&S, facility and security policies and regulations. Investigate reports of potential criminal conduct against PH&S staff, visitors, staff, and property; respond and assist in restraining patients; detain individuals when necessary or at the direction of a police officer; and provide protective services to high risk areas. Mobile positions will conduct vehicle and foot patrols, patient transports, site surveys, threat assessments, patient standbys, alarm/nuisance call response, special details and assist in training of clinic personnel. May be required to support any Providence or affiliated organizations within the Oregon Region.

Receives general direction from the Security Manager, Supervisor or Lead Security Officer. Performs a variety of intermediate level technical security protective duties to protect patients, visitors, staff, physicians, property and facilities from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Enforces PH&S, facility and security policies and regulations. Investigates reports of potential criminal conduct against PH&S staff, visitors, staff, and property; responds and assists in restraining patients; detains individuals when necessary or at the direction of a police officer; and provides protective services to high risk areas. May be required to support any Providence or affiliated organizations within the Oregon Region.

Security Officer

Required Qualifications:

  • Upon hire: Oregon Private Security Armed/Unarmed Professional - Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Or
  • Upon hire: Oregon Private Security Unarmed Professional - Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training
  • Upon hire: Private Security Temporary Work Permit PS-20
  • Upon request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request. See policy for additional information.
  • 1 year Experience using personal computer with standard Microsoft applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training College level coursework in professionally related fields such as criminal justice, social work, psychology or any social science.
  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • 1 year Security/law enforcement experience such as corrections, police, reserve and military police.
  • Direct patient care experience in a healthcare industry.

Senior Security Officer

Required Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training Successful completion of one of the following:
  • Certified law enforcement academy, such as corrections, police, reserve or military police, or
  • Completion of certified military training. or
  • Healthcare Security Officer Advanced or Supervisor Certification through IAHSS.
  • Coursework/Training Successful completion of 5 additional FEMA Emergency Management Institute Courses from Security Services Approved Course List.
  • Upon hire: Oregon Private Security Armed/Unarmed Professional - Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Or
  • Upon hire: Oregon Private Security Unarmed Professional - Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Or
