Private duty companions help elderly or disabled clients with their daily activities. As a private duty companion, your specific job duties vary, depending on the needs of the client. Your responsibilities may include light housework, preparing and cooking meals, and helping the client shower, groom, and get dressed. You may also act as an in-home companion for the client, accompanying them on outings, taking them to appointments, and conversing with them at home. Private duty companions communicate regularly with the client's family members to ensure they are meeting the needs of the clients. They also collaborate with the client's health care professionals but do not provide medical treatments.
