KCA Children’s Art Instructor
Type: Part-Time
Starting Pay: $10/hour
Description: We’re looking for talented, enthusiastic art instructors to teach our exciting, new Kidcreate Academy art curriculum that helps students build real artistic skills over time. The role is ideal for educators who enjoy working with children and can confidently teach foundational art techniques in a fun, supportive environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, proactive, and a self-starter. Instructors take pride in keeping the studio clean and inviting, preparing projects and supplies ahead of time, managing materials responsibly, and taking initiative to support both students and fellow instructors when needed. The ideal candidate takes notice of what needs to be done, and does it without being asked, and contributes to a positive, team-oriented workplace. They can work in a fast-paced environment and remain committed to creating an exceptional experience for every child and family. 
Required Qualifications:
  • Applicant should have a strong foundation in drawing, painting, color theory, and composition. A PDF art portfolio of 5-10 works or a portfolio website that demonstrates the above skills is required with the application. Failure to submit art portfolio or link to portfolio website will be considered an incomplete application. We do not advance incomplete job applications.
  • Applicant has experience teaching or working with preschool, kindergarten, and/or elementary school aged children
  • Applicant is comfortable and efficient at leading groups and effectively managing a classroom
  • Applicant is able to teach art techniques and build skills.
  • Applicant has excellent reading comprehension skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Applicant has a degree or coursework in Art Education, Fine Arts, Design, or a related field. Art teachers, teaching artists, private art tutors, and/or art education students are encouraged to apply.
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish)
  • Applicant has at least a year of experience teaching or working with preschool, kindergarten, and/or elementary school-aged children in a learning environment
  • Experience with behavioral support strategies
Skills and Competencies:
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Proactively identifies student and classroom needs and develops solutions to prevent problems and maximize learning
  • Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Empathetic and patient
Candidates must be able to:
  • Teach structured art lessons that develop skills progressively over time.
  • Facilitate engaging classes for children of various ages and skill levels
  • Demonstrate drawing, painting, and other art techniques
  • Break complex skills into clear, age-appropriate steps
  • Provide consistent and constructive, encouraging feedback to students
  • Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
