Job Summary:
CNN is a leading source of digital news and is undergoing rapid transformation. They are seeking a Staff Product Manager to define and drive the vision and strategy for CNN’s subscription management, payment, and billing platforms, ensuring a seamless experience for subscribers while enabling the business to launch new offers and markets.
Responsibilities:
• Define and own the long-term roadmap for CNN’s subscription, authentication, payment, and billing capabilities, aligning with company level growth and experience goals.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, data, finance, legal, and marketing partners to deliver reliable, scalable systems that power purchases, renewals, and entitlements.
• Lead integrations with third-party payment and billing providers and app stores (Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon) to ensure consistent, global subscription experiences.
• Define and monitor key subscription and billing health metrics, including payment and renewal success, billing and entitlement accuracy, and checkout conversion rates.
• Partner with finance, legal, and engineering teams to ensure payment and billing systems meet tax, privacy, regulatory, and financial accuracy requirements.
• Communicate product vision, progress, and outcomes to ensure alignment and clear expectations across teams.
• Stay deeply informed on the subscription, payment and digital commerce landscape, identifying opportunities to innovate and position CNN as a leader in subscriber experience.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 8+ years of product management experience, with demonstrated ownership of subscription commerce or billing systems (e.g., Stripe, Recurly, app store commerce or custom-built platforms).
• Proven experience building and scaling consumer facing digital products, preferably subscription based or transactional platforms operating at meaningful scale.
• Strong background in data driven product development, including KPI definition, experimentation, and optimization of conversion, renewal and retention outcomes.
• Experience working in cross functional product teams with engineering, design, analytics, and business partners.
• Deep understanding of subscription commerce fundamentals, including recurring billing, renewals and dunning, entitlements and access control, app store payments, and global market considerations (tax, currency, privacy, and regulation).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence and align stakeholders across teams and functions.
