Job description

We made history and now we work to transform the future - for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.

In this position...

The Ford Feature System Engineer (FSE) acts as the system owner for connectivity features and cloud-integrated services. The role bridges product requirements, vehicle engineering, cloud services, privacy compliance, provisioning, telematics, fleet services, OTA updates, and supplier integration activities. The FSE establishes Ford-defined behavior and interfaces while ensuring supplier implementations are aligned with Ford standards and customer experience requirements.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical field OR a combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of systems engineering, connected vehicle, telematics, cloud services, or infotainment experience.
    • Experience defining and managing system requirements, feature requirements, and interface requirements.
    • Understanding of vehicle-to-cloud architectures and connected vehicle ecosystems.
    • Experience with requirements management, traceability, change management, and system integration activities.
    • Knowledge of vehicle communications, telematics, remote commands, and data collection systems.
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams including software, cloud, hardware, mobile application, cybersecurity, legal, and supplier organizations.
    • Knowledge of cybersecurity, privacy, consent management, and data governance principles.
    • Experience validating system functionality and supplier compliance against established requirements.
    • Strong technical communication and supplier management skills.
    • Ability to analyze system architectures, technical specifications, and integration designs.
    • Experience supporting issue resolution across vehicle, cloud, and mobile platforms.

Even better, you may have...

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with Ford connectivity ecosystems, FordPass, TMC, TCAM, telematics platforms, or cloud-connected vehicle services.
  • Experience working with global automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, or strategic alliance partners.
  • Knowledge of OTA/MMOTA deployment architectures and software lifecycle management.
  • Experience with privacy regulations, ePrivacy requirements, consent management frameworks, and regional compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of fleet management platforms, commercial telematics services, and cloud-managed feature packages.
  • Experience defining APIs, cloud interfaces, and data-exchange protocols.
  • Knowledge of digital identity, account management, authentication, authorization, and VIN-based service provisioning.
  • Experience with connected vehicle diagnostics, DTCs, vehicle health monitoring, and remote service functions.
  • Experience with EV charging services, battery health reporting, emissions reporting, and regulatory data-management systems.
  • Familiarity with Android Automotive OS (AAOS), Google Automotive Services (GAS), and in-vehicle digital experience platforms.
  • Experience leading end-to-end feature development from concept through production launch and post-launch support.
  • Experience performing technical reviews, supplier evaluations, design assessments, and architecture governance.
  • Knowledge of vehicle provisioning, manufacturing systems, SIM provisioning, and end-of-line activation processes.
  • Experience in system verification, validation planning, defect management, and readiness assessments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical decisions and influence engineering, product, and supplier organizations without direct authority.

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home?
