Description Construction & Maintenance Project Supervisor (GY76) Larch Corrections Center Full Time | Permanent | Teamsters Location: Yacolt, WA Salary Range: $7,740 - $8,976 monthly The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to fill one full time permanent position for Construction & Maintenance Project Supervisor (CMPS), at Larch Corrections Center. Under the direction of the Director of Prison and Operations Maintenance; to improve public safety, this position actively supervises building and grounds maintenance and construction trades. Whether the work is inside a prison, in community corrections, or in an administrative office, the Washington State Department of Corrections professional staff experience a high degree of personal satisfaction knowing they are creating environments in which all Incarcerated Individuals can learn to make choices that contribute to a safer society.

Duties This position supervises and serves as lead worker of a Maintenance team engaged in maintenance, construction and repair of buildings, building systems and other structures, roads, pathways and walks, fences, equipment and related facilities per the Mission Creek Warm Closure Protocol. Duties include: Inspect, diagnose, service, repair, install, and conduct preventive/corrective maintenance on plant equipment and systems such as grease interceptors, plumbing, boilers, and low voltage systems, exhaust fans, plug in appliances, sewer systems, storm drains and water sampling. Inspect, diagnose, service, install, and conduct preventive/corrective maintenance on buildings and structures to include kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, office equipment and office space moves, floor systems, wall systems, doors, windows, roofs and drains.

Construct, maintain, and repair grounds, roads, pathways, walks, and fencing, to include striping of parking lot stalls. Perform repairs on hinges, doors, jams, locks, door operating mechanisms, change light bulbs and fluorescent tubes and lighting fixtures/components. Build, texture, patch, sand, paint, repair holes and/or damage on all walls/ceilings/siding, Assist with HVAC repair work as necessary to keep critical systems operational.

Operate and maintain equipment as required, to include but not limited to: cars, trucks, utility carts, scissor lift, boom truck, forklift, backhoe, bobcat, and dump truck. Responsible for management and disposal of hazardous waste/Washington State dangerous waste. Work closely with and interact many times a week with all stakeholders and maintenance personnel to resolve maintenance issues/capital projects needs and ensure they are addressed and resolved.

Escort DOC and non-DOC visitors inside the facility and on all facility grounds, as needed. Maintain files and accurate required records to include documentation pertaining to regulatory reporting within strict adherence to reporting time frames. Schedule delivery and pickup of project related materials.

Maintain vegetation, lawn and landscape by mowing, weed whacking and pruning vegetation in and outside of the perimeter of the facility. Conduct herbicide applications to control vegetation in and outside of the secured perimeter of the facility to include maintaining space between perimeter fences vegetation free (obtain appropriate WA. State Pesticide/Herbicide applicators certifications as required).

Maintain herbicide inventory and record keeping, following state laws and safety guidelines. Responsible for snow and ice removal operations. Maintain equipment and tools associated with maintenance, vegetation control and herbicide application.

Provide Safety Training to employees assigned to work for the Maintenance Department at MCCCW. Responsible for accurate timekeeping approval for Maintenance employees assigned to MCCCW. Responsible for an accurate accounting of work performed by completing assigned work, entering complete work orders into Asset Planner daily to close out work accomplished and tracking all unassigned work by creating work order request and then completing work order when assigned.

Accurately keep records and maintain files to include documentation pertaining to regulator reporting within strict adherence to reporting time frames. Notify and brief the Director of Prison and Operation Maintenance of all system failures and any prolonged issues with completing general repair work and/or priority #1 safety and security work that cannot be immediately repaired or resolved. Order equipment, parts, and machinery on e-purchasing system for supervisory approval.

Confer with supervisor when planning scope of work and associated materials needed. Adhere to invoicing/accounting procedures for purchases through warehouse supply staff and Director of Prison and Operations Maintenance. Conduct daily tool accountability checks at beginning, middle, and end of shift and sign in/out all used tools daily on the tool accountability sheets.

Qualifications Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent education. Valid Driver's license. Four or more years of recent experience in construction or building maintenance work or journey-level work in one of the building trades.

Two year's direct experience with building maintenance/repair tracking system to create and track Work Orders, asset management, capital planning, energy improvements, sustainability, etc.) Knowledge and awareness of local and state building codes. Ability to read and work from Architectural and Engineering blueprints and shop drawings and estimate material costs and man hour estimates. Ability to work from various heights, elevated platforms, ladders, mechanical man lifts, etc

Knowledge and ability to operate various light and heavy equipment such as tractors, backhoe, front end loaders, forklifts, dump trucks, man lifts, etc. Working knowledge of and ability to operate hand and power tools common to the trades. Knowledge and ability to perform industrial/residential plumbing installations and repairs.

Knowledge and ability to perform repairs and replacements of security doors, door frames, door hardware, door locks door closures, etc. Ability to supervise, train and mentor adult male offenders engaged in construction and maintenance work. Ability to work independently.
