Job description

A Shift Hours: M-F 6a-2:30pm

B Shift Hours: M-Th 2:30pm-1am

The Flexographic Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining flexographic printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials. They work with various materials like paper, plastic, and film, ensuring that the printed products meet customer specifications and quality standards. Their duties include preparing the press, monitoring print quality, troubleshooting issues, and performing routine maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting up the press, Mounting printing plates, adjusting ink flow and pressure, and loading materials like paper or film.
  • Operating the press, starting and controlling the machine, monitoring print quality, and adjusting settings as needed.
  • Maintaining quality, inspecting printed materials for defects, color accuracy, and registration, making adjustments to correct issues.
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving printing problems, such as misaligned prints, ink issues, or mechanical malfunctions.
  • Performing maintenance, cleaning and lubricating press components, performing routine checks, and reporting any needed repairs.
  • Ink Management, mixing, blending, and managing inks according to job specifications and material requirements.
  • Following instructions, reading and interpreting job orders, following safety procedures, and adhering to company policies.
  • Collaborating with team, communicating with supervisors, other operators, and pre-press personnel to ensure smooth production.

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude, ability to understand and work with machinery and tools.
  • Color vision and perception, ability to differentiate colors accurately.
  • Knowledge of flexographic and flexography principles, understanding of printing processes, inks.
  • Basic computer skills, ability to record data, documentation, and use production software, are required.
  • 2+ years of experience operating a Flexo Press Machine, understanding of 4-color presses, with a strong mechanical aptitude, and ability to read a ruler/tap to 1/32', use basic gauges like calipers and counters and interpret job specs, required.
  • Prior experience within printing, packaging, label converting production manufacturing, HIGHLY desired.
  • Basic PC skills, prior ERP/Barcode scanning, experience.
