Job Description
The Printer Repair Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and refurbishing thermal printers and related equipment in a technical environment. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to perform hands-on repairs, testing, and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is operating properly. The ideal candidate is analytical, dependable, and capable of working independently while maintaining high-quality repair standards and accurate service documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot printer and print quality issues
  • Repair and refurbish thermal printers, printheads, and related components
  • Perform board-level diagnostics and repairs on electrical components and power supplies
  • Replace printheads, rollers, sensors, motors, and other printer parts as needed
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and equipment testing to ensure proper functionality
  • Use tools such as soldering equipment, multimeters, and oscilloscopes for repairs and diagnostics
  • Maintain accurate repair logs, service records, and repair documentation
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing equipment for quality and functionality
  • Keep repair workstations clean, organized, and efficient
  • Assist in identifying common repair trends and recommending replacement parts or solutions
  • Follow established repair procedures and safety guidelines
  • Work independently to complete repairs in a timely and efficient manner
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications preferred
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Soldering experience required
  • Experience repairing thermal printers, barcode printers, or similar electronic equipment preferred
  • Ability to diagnose and repair board-level electrical components
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and repair documentation
  • Basic computer skills required; experience with Microsoft Excel or QuickBooks is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Dependable work ethic and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and boxes up to 40 pounds as needed
