What is a print technician?

Print Technicians are skilled professionals who operate and maintain printing equipment to produce materials like brochures, books, packaging, and signage. They prepare printing presses, calibrate settings, load materials, and monitor print jobs for quality and consistency. Print Technicians may also perform routine maintenance on machines, troubleshoot issues, and ensure that finished products meet client specifications. Their role is crucial in both traditional offset and digital printing environments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a print technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Print Technician, you need a strong understanding of printing processes, color theory, and mechanical aptitude, often backed by a technical diploma or relevant experience. Familiarity with digital and offset printing machines, RIP software, and basic maintenance tools is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help ensure accuracy and smooth workflow in a team environment. These skills are crucial for producing high-quality print materials efficiently and minimizing costly errors or downtime.

What are some common challenges print technicians face when working with new printing technologies?

Print Technicians often encounter challenges when adapting to new or updated printing technologies, such as learning new software interfaces, understanding advanced machine capabilities, and troubleshooting unique technical issues. Keeping up-to-date with frequent changes in digital printing equipment can require ongoing training and a willingness to embrace continuous learning. Collaboration with vendors, IT staff, and other technicians is crucial to ensure smooth transitions and maintain production quality during technology upgrades.

We're a team of hands-on builders, engineers, and innovators reinventing how the world makes physical things. If you're ready to shape the future of fabrication, come build it with us.

Your Impact:ย

Our Engineering Print Farm is where we print parts for the engineering team to use for prototyping and quality purposes. Our team needs someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and industrious, ready to tackle (and print!) anything that comes their way. If you are excited to work with your hands, we want you to join the Form Team as an 3D Print Technician.

  • Editing Python scripts for print modification
  • 3D scanning, file organization, and data reporting
  • Assist in testing requirements, goals, and featuresย

You:ย

  • Experience running various 3D printers
  • Always have an eagle eye on the details - no bad print part would get past you
  • Ability to edit Python scripts
  • Excited to see (and drive) the entire print production process from start to finish (printing, washing, cleaning, packing, shipping parts, and more!)
  • Very focused and can operate efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Can smoothly navigate competing priorities, tight deadlines, and last minute projects
  • A friendly communicator who can interface with all teams to get things done
  • Can streamline our production process and meet weekly quotas
  • Diligent about meeting weekly quotas and targets

Bonus:

  • Familiarity with CAD software
  • Experience with SLA and/or SLS printing
  • Managing a 3d print farm

Our Benefits & Perks:

  • Robust equity program to build future wealth through RSUs
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage (Medical, Dental, Vision)
  • 401K matching and access to financial advisors
  • Generous paid Parental Leave (up to 16 weeks)
  • Tenure-based paid Sabbatical Leave (up to 6 weeks)
  • Flexible Out of Office Plan - Take time when you need it
  • Ample on-site parking & pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Healthy on-site lunches, snacks, beverages, & treats
  • Regular sponsored professional development opportunities
  • Many opt-in culture events across our diverse community
  • And of course... unlimited 3D prints

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.ย  We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.ย ย

Even if you don't check every box, but see yourself contributing, please apply. Help us build an inclusive community that will change the face of 3D printing.
