Job description

Responsive recruiter
Graphic Designer & Sign Production Specialist
Location: FASTSIGNS - Draper, UT
Position Type: Full-Time, Dual-Role (Design & Production)
Turn Creative Concepts into Local Landmarks
Do you want a creative outlet balanced with structure, simplicity, and hands-on craftsmanship? Does the idea of driving past your own work on the streets of Draper and seeing your impact on the local community excite you?
At FASTSIGNS, we know that the world's best logos rely on clean lines, but a business's physical space is a canvas for inspiration. We are looking for a skilled Graphic Designer and Production Specialist who respects brand standards, takes immense pride in craftsmanship, and possesses the signage expertise to bridge the gap between digital design and physical fabrication.
As a key member of our growing team, you will split your time between the design computer and the production floor-giving you full creative ownership of projects from concept to final completion.
What You'll Do
In the Design & Prep Room (Pre-Press):
  • Design & Pre-Flight: Create impactful, computer-generated full-color graphics tailored specifically for wide-format output.
  • Vector File Prep: Set up cut lines, bleed, and registration for vinyl output, ensuring files are optimized for weeding, cutting, and application.
  • Internal Collaboration: Partner closely with our Account Sales Executives to translate client requests into technically viable signage solutions, ensuring designs match estimated specifications and brand standards.

In the Production & Assembly Room (Fabrication):
  • Substrate Preparation: Cut, clean, and prepare various substrates (PVC, ACM, Acrylic, Coroplast, etc.) for graphic application.
  • Vinyl & Print Application: Expertly apply cut vinyl, wrap vinyl, and wide-format prints to substrates and vehicles with high accuracy and no bubbles/wrinkles.
  • Finishing & Equipment Operation: Set up and operate wide-format laminators for encapsulation, over-laminating, and mounting.
  • Quality Assurance: Proofread all signs and conduct strict QA to ensure final products match proofs perfectly before delivery or installation.

What We're Looking For (Qualifications)
  • Sign Industry Experience: Proven experience in a sign shop environment handling both digital design and physical sign assembly/production.
  • Technical Design Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and familiarity with sign-specific RIP software (e.g., Onyx, Flexi).
  • Production Know-How: Strong hands-on experience with weeding, taping, mounting, using a laminator, and handling diverse sign substrates.
  • The Right Mindset: An independent worker who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, but values collaboration and team success.
