Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Associate Production Artist with exceptional communication skills to join our production team in support of high-profile events, conferences, incentive programs, trade shows, and experiential marketing initiatives.
The Associate Production Artist is responsible for coordinating the production of printed materials and delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This role works closely with the Production Manager, Graphic Designers, Account team members, and print vendors to ensure print requests are accurately prepared, ordered, tracked and delivered according to project requirements and timelines.
The ideal candidate has strong Adobe Creative Suite skills, a solid understanding of print production and file preparation, excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to manage multiple requests while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
You'll spend your days on the following:
  • Receive and manage incoming print requests through an internal ticketing system.
  • Review files and print requests for completeness, accuracy and production readiness.
  • Prepare files for print, including file setup, bleed, file structure, data merging and other production requirements.
  • Perform detailed quality control checks to ensure files meet project specifications before submission to print.
  • Communicate with production manager, graphic designers and account team members to clarify requirements, resolve production issues and ensure requests are ready for production.
  • Coordinate print orders with vendors based on project specifications, quantities, locations, and deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate production timelines and communicate project updates, changes and potential issues to the appropriate parties.
  • Facilitate communication between production manager, graphic designers, account team members and print vendors to ensure accurate and timely information is shared throughout the production process.
  • Review printed materials in person, when needed, to verify quality, accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
  • Assist with local vendor pickups and other occasional production related tasks.
  • Maintain organized production files, project information, and documentation.
  • Manage multiple requests and competing deadlines while appropriately prioritizing work based on project needs and timelines.
  • Work independently while seeking guidance and clarification when necessary.

Required Qualifications
  • Degree in Graphic Design or related field.
  • Working knowledge of:

- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe InDesign
- Adobe Photoshop
- Microsoft Excel
- Adobe Acrobat
  • Understanding file preparation, organization, and production requirements for printing.
  • Familiarity with common printed products and event materials, including signage, cards, name badges, lanyards and banners.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines while effectively prioritizing tasks.
  • Comfortable working independently while following established directions and processes.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in print production, production coordination, commercial printing, or related production environment.
  • Familiarity with preparing files for commercial printing.
  • Knowledge of print vendor processes and requirements.
  • Proficiency with variable data and data merging.
  • Familiarity with event related printed materials and production.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Capable of lifting and moving printed materials and related items weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Local to the Kansas City area and available for occasional vendor pickups and in person quality checks.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment.

Location
This is a hybrid role, where approximately 3 days per week will be spent working from our Overland Park office.
