Job description

The Press Assistant is responsible for a combination of duties to assist the printing press operator to ready, operate, and maintain press operations within food safety regulations and quality standards. 
This is a 3rd shift Friday- Sunday position with hours 3:00 am - 3:00 pm , hours can vary.  Shift differential of $2.50 when working 3rd shift hours.
  • Work in sync with the Press Operator for job run and shift efficiencies. 
  • Collect, verify and load materials for each print run ensuring customer specifications are met.
  •  Verify ink viscosity for loaded inks according to Standard Operating Procedures. 
  • Assist with unloading and labeling of finished goods and component materials. 
  • Maintain accuracy of assigned materials and produced goods in the ERP system using the mobile device
  • Assist with the print run change over process safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with the demount and plate cleaning processes as needed. 
  • Identify and mark non-conforming material/product.
  • Minimize waste throughout the production process. 
  • Keep a clean, organized, & safe work area according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Conduct housekeeping of machine and area each shift according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with production and operations teams to achieve efficiency and quality. 
  • Follow all safety precautions and ensure safety equipment is being used properly
  • Complies with company safety policies and maintains clean and orderly work area and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures, including timely and accurate documentation of required SQF forms.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
MUST HAVES:
    • HS Diploma or GED
    • Quality and Safety minded
    • Display a positive attitude and work well with all levels of personnel, whether individually or in a team environment
    • Must be able to effectively manage time by organizing and planning work
    •  Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
    •  Effectively communicate questions, problems, and reports to co-workers, supervisory and management personnel
    •  Flexibility to accommodate unscheduled changes in duties and work overtime as needed
    •  Strong attention to detail 
    •  Knowledge of the flexographic printing process preferred
    •  Basic math and measurement skills. 
    •  Basic computer skills. 
    • Able to handle multiple projects at one time
    •  Able to complete tasks with little or no supervision
    • Good interpersonal skills
    •  Good organizational skills
