Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Print Shop Operator to oversee the daily operations of our in-house print shop and fleet of networked printers. The ideal candidate will manage printing equipment, consumables, and production workflows, ensuring high-quality output and timely delivery of print jobs. Experience with Fiery software and previous work in a print shop or educational setting is required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain all print shop equipment including digital presses, label printers, copiers, and finishing equipment.
  • Manage and monitor the organization's fleet of networked printers for functionality and consumable levels (toner, paper, maintenance kits, etc.).
  • Oversee inventory and ordering of consumables and supplies to ensure uninterrupted print operations.
  • Utilize Fiery Command WorkStation and related software to manage print jobs, color calibration, and workflow optimization.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on print devices, escalating to vendors or IT when necessary.
  • Ensure print jobs are completed accurately, on time, and to high-quality standards.
  • Coordinate with staff and departments to prioritize and fulfill print requests.
  • Maintain records of print usage and generate reports as needed.
  • Implement and follow best practices for safety, security, and data privacy in print operations.
Qualifications:
  • Required:
    • Minimum 2 years' experience working in a print shop or educational print environment.
    • Proficiency with Fiery Command WorkStation and digital print workflows.
    • Experience managing multiple printers and consumables in a mid-to-large-scale environment.
  • Preferred:
    • Knowledge of finishing equipment (e.g., binding, folding, trimming).
    • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
    • Familiarity with copier/printer service routines and basic troubleshooting.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with end-users.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs (paper, toner, etc.).
  • Standing and walking for extended periods while operating machinery.
  • Manual dexterity for handling and loading materials into machines.
Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with occasional overtime as needed.
