Job Summary
Overview:
This Reliability Engineer/Specialist will be primarily responsible for executing Vistra's reliability improvement projects, applying sound engineering judgment and ensuring alignment with established company procedures and guidelines such as the Corrective Action Program (CAP), Work Process Control (WPC), and loss prevention inspection, testing and maintenance requirements.
The Engineer/Specialist will participate in industry user groups and forums, integrating industry-leading insights into the Vistra organization. This role supports both short-term and long-term budget planning and execution in alignment with Vistra's Loss Prevention and Hazard Management program requirements and Reliability Optimization Initiative (ROI).
Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
  • Review fleet outstanding risk reduction suggestions associated with equipment inspection, testing and maintenance enhancements in coordination with program leads (Boiler & Machinery, Electrical Safe Work Practices, Fire Protection, Combustible Dust, Highly Hazard Chemicals etc.)
  • Develop Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) for key assets in coordination with systems subject matter experts.
  • Improve and develop Preventive Maintenance requirements with the use of FMEAs and incorporating learnings from industry events and trends.
  • Lead the integration of Essential PM database into Maximo application.
  • Maintain Essential Preventive Maintenance ranking process.
  • Administer and develop Reliability Key Performance Indicators
  • Facilitate adherence to the WPC program and process across the fleet.
  • Lead/perform Root Cause Analyses.
  • Liaise between application owners (e.g., Maximo, SharePoint), application support teams, asset preservation program owners, root cause analysis teams and hazard management program stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Support Insurance Loss Prevention visits in coordination with program leads
  • Travel to sites as needed to support program and project execution.
  • Travel - up to 40 % travel expected.

Education and Skill Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in power generation or equivalent, with prior experience in equipment reliability concepts and preventive maintenance for power plant equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Vistra Corrective Action Program (CAP) and Work Process Control (WPC) processes as well as industry best practices.
  • Familiarity with FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), reliability and maintainability key performance indicators like MTBF, MTTR, P-F curves and RCA (Root Cause Analysis) processes.
  • Understanding of power plant equipment and system performance requirements.
  • Ability to research industry standards and best practices to provide technical guidance on equipment reliability improvement, hazard management and loss prevention.
  • Proficiency with plant operations, maintenance, and engineering principles
  • Familiarity with Maximo CMMS system is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, communication, creative problem-solving, and team-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School diploma/GED equivalent with relevant experience gained through certification programs and work experience.
  • Demonstrated aptitude aligned with key accountabilities.

Key Metrics for Success:
  • Provide proactive, technically sound support to the Vistra Fossil and Renewables fleet.
  • Recommend solutions to improve site resilience, reliability, and performance.
  • Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders.
  • Deliver accurate fleet reliability performance analysis and monitoring of WPC adherence via KPIs.
  • Demonstrate ability to differentiate reliability and maintenance activities based on criticality.
  • Maintain program documentation to support WPC requirements.
  • Track and document program and project completion to demonstrate progress.

Location: Will consider any Vistra fossil generation facility as an alternative to Irving TX.
Grade: Grade will be assigned based on skills and experience (aligned with engineering/specialist progression program).
