Job description

Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Handles, cares for and services Individuals in accordance with established methods and procedures, as well as instructions issued by the assigned supervisor.

• Bends, reaches and lifts while transporting Individuals; follows care plan as ordered; administers simple treatments and dressings as directed.

• Cleans residence, equipment, and household items including but not limited to beds, stands, mattress, pillows, stretchers, and wheelchairs.

• Cares for Individuals receiving oxygen therapy, enteral feeding, IV’s and isolation care: gives enemas; measures and records food intake and output; collects specimens; conducts blood sugar testing per glucometer

• Prepares and serves nourishing, well-balanced, healthy food, water and assists Individuals who are unable to feed themselves in a manner that effectively addresses any deficits.

e Monitors each Individual’s food consumption.

• Shaves male Individuals as needed, administers vaginal douches, provides hair care and nail care; takes and records vital signs as needed,

• Administers medication per policies

• Maintains, provides for and contributes to a safe environment for Individuals, co-workers and visitors.

Documents every shift according to IPOS and behavioral treatment plan

• Documents all care provided

• Facilitates Individual meetings as assigned

• Understands, complies with and promotes all rules and regulations regarding individual rights.

• Complies with, supports and enforces CRC policies involving all safety and infection control procedures,

• Promotes positive relationships with Individuals, designated representatives, family members, visitors and regulators

• Attends training programs and workshops as required to maintain certification.

• Is responsible for Individuals' personal clothing; determines linen and clothing needs of Individuals; cleans Individual bathrooms as necessary; assists and completes personal care as indicated.

• Be physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation

• Performs related duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of:

• Procedures and techniques involving the administration of simple treatments and providing related individual care services

• Pertinent local, state and federal rules, regulations and laws.

• Principles and practices of mental health systems and program, with specific program knowledge of assigned section

• Principles and practices of work safety

Ability to:

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, Individuals and Individuals’ families.

Serve Individuals and show initiative and judgment in recognizing symptoms and reactions and reporting them in a timely manner.

Encourage and motivate Individuals to participate in recreational, occupational, physical therapy and daily activities of daily living.

Lift, move and transport Individuals.

Maintain the confidentiality of Individual care

Conduct oneself with tact and courtesy Deal effectively with crisis situations.


Experience and Training:

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Previous experience in mental health care is preferred.

Training:

Possession of a high school diploma or a certificate of successful completion of the General Educational Development Test is required.

License and Certificate :

May need to possess a valid driver’s license and proof of adequate vehicle insurance may also be required. Direct care training certification, first aid and CPR certifications, and Individual rights certification are mandatory. In-service trainings aad annual training updates are also required,
