The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a Building Construction Plan Reviewer III for projects in Kentucky and Indiana.


This role plays a critical part in safeguarding the safety, quality, and compliance of both commercial and residential construction projects. You will review architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection plans to ensure they meet statewide building codes, fire codes, and applicable local ordinances.


This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with significant experience in plan review, building inspection, or fire inspection. The successful candidate will bring deep technical knowledge, strong attention to detail, and the ability to clearly communicate code deficiencies and compliance requirements. If you are passionate about building safety and guiding projects toward successful code compliance, this role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on the integrity of the built environment.


What You'll Do:

In this role, you will review construction documents for compliance with statewide adopted building and fire codes, identify code deficiencies, and communicate findings clearly to project stakeholders. You will help ensure projects move forward efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review construction plans, technical documents, and supporting materials for compliance with statewide adopted building and fire codes.
  • Evaluate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, accessibility, and fire protection systems for code compliance.
  • Prepare detailed written plan review comments identifying deficiencies and required corrections.
  • Interpret and apply statewide adopted building codes, fire codes, and applicable regulations.
  • Manage assigned plan review workload and prioritize reviews to meet contractual required turnaround timelines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of plan review activities and project status.
  • Communicate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding code compliance issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of plan review and compliance services.


What You'll Bring:

We are seeking experienced plan reviewers with strong technical knowledge of construction practices and code compliance.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a plan examiner, building inspector, fire inspector, or a combination of these roles.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply statewide adopted fire and building codes including architectural, structural, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, accessibility, fire protection systems, and related regulations.

  • Accredited college training in:
    • Architecture
    • Engineering
    • Fire Protection Engineering
    • Engineering or Architectural Technology
    • Construction Management
    • Construction Technology

Technical Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of building and fire codes including building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fuel gas, energy conservation, fire alarm systems, fire sprinkler systems, accessibility requirements, and related regulations.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
