Principal Cloud Data Automation Engineer

Are you passionate about technology, cloud data platforms, and cloud data automation? Do you want to work on innovative cloud data solutions that will set the standard for enterprise-class cloud data platforms? We are looking to hire cloud database automation engineers who are hardworking technologists and who can help drive PostgreSQL, Distributed SQL database automation, at-scale, in public cloud environments.

As a Principal Cloud data Automation Engineer in the Postgres and Distributed Database Platform Squad, you will be the team’s Expert on automating the deployment and migration of PostgreSQL and Distributed SQL Databases like CockroachDB and YugabyteDB into both AWS and Azure. This is a hands-on technical database software engineering role that requires strong technical skills and knowledge of cloud automation tools, methods, and standard methodologies for deployment, provisioning, encryption, security, administration, and data protection. You will work with the cloud database architects and developers on database-as-a-service automation that uses a common deployment pipeline across all the cloud service providers. You will collaborate with architects, developers, security, operations, and Business Unit cloud CoE’s and database engineering teams to ensure that applications make efficient and appropriate usage of cloud databases following the required Fidelity operational and security policies.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Strong hands-on experience and expertise as principal database automation engineer.
  • Your knowledge and hands-on experience with; CloudFormation, YML, Vault, Bitbucket, Artifactory, and CloudWatch
  • Your experience with scripting languages such as; Python, PowerShell, Shell Scripting, Ansible, Terraform, Go, Ruby, and Perl.
  • Your hands-on experience with pipeline automation tools; Jenkins, Jenkins Core, and Concourse.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching engineers on standard methodology and engineering excellence.
  • Your experience with Cloud DevOps and infrastructure as code concepts, and source code tools like Git.
  • Knowledge on Relational and Distributed SQL database administration procedures and operations.
  • Your experience working in Agile software development environments.
  • Consistent record as a positive teammate with an ability to optimally communicate and share your business and technical knowledge with peers, partners, and management.
  • Your strong dedication to high quality and standards for your code and your team’s code.
  • Your strong desire and interest in learning new cloud technologies.

The candidate will be working on enabling the database automation in cloud that include PostgreSQL, Distributed SQL DBs like CockroachDB and YugabyteDB. Key technical roles and responsibilities include modernizing existing automation capabilities, crafting new end-to-end deployment capabilities, and migrating BU partners to these new data services automations in both AWS and Azure. Coach and provide mentorship to cloud database technical resources across the inner-source community.
