Clarke Community School District is looking for a JV2 Boy's Basketball coach for the 2026-2027 season.
REPORTS TO: Head Varsity Coach and Activities Director and/or Building Principal
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Iowa Coaching Authorization (preferred)
2. Previous Playing experience (preferred)
3. Sport specific knowledge (preferred)
COORDINATES: JV and Varsity Program with direction from Head Coach
POSITION GOAL: To develop and grow student athletes, athletically and personally
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for implementation of program developed by Head Varsity Coach
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Instruct athletes regarding techniques, rules and safety practices of the sport
  2. Develops and organizes practice program that align with Head Varsity Coach and/or Activities Director's philosophy
  3. Conduct practices according to agreed upon schedules
  4. Supervise athletes from the scheduled beginning of the practice or game until the last athlete is picked up, knowing where all participants are at all times
  5. Supervise athletes on bus trips to other schools
  6. Promote the entire Clarke Community Schools Athletics program
  7. Set an example of the highest ethical and moral conduct including respecting and supporting contest officials
  8. Foster among the participants and spectators an appreciation of the values of athletics, an attitude of good sportsmanship, and a sense of pride in self, team, school, and community
  9. Promote a healthy lifestyle to student athletes
  10. Assist the activities director to ensure that lists of all players eligible for athletic contests are prepared and maintained under rules of Clarke Community School District
  11. Communicates with Activities Director and/or Administrative Assistant to ensure that all athletes have completed and submitted all required documentation, including the concussion form, medical insurance coverage form and have undergone and passed any required medical examinations before the regular practice season begins
  12. Communicates with parents in regard to team rules, team schedule and athletic department guidelines

  14. Adhere to all safety laws and district policies
  15. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head Varsity Coach

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and contract length to be determined in accordance with provisions of the Agreement between CCEA and CCSD.
EVALUATION: To be done annually by the Activities Director and/or Principal with input of Head Varsity Coach
