The Opportunity

We are seeking a Legal Pricing Manager (Litigation) to join a leading law firm. This position is based in New York (hybrid). You will be responsible for supporting the firm's pricing and client engagement strategies through the development and implementation of tailored fee arrangements that align with client expectations and firm objectives. You will also oversee the creation and refinement of financial models, pricing tools, and reporting systems to enhance forecasting, budgeting, and performance monitoring for key matters.

Additional responsibilities include managing the transition of data systems, developing user-friendly tools to streamline data access and analysis, tracking market trends and competitive pricing data, and helping shape innovative, industry-specific fee structures. You will collaborate closely with partners, the Legal Project Management team, and key stakeholders to support matter budgeting, pricing strategy, and performance monitoring.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with partners to develop, negotiate, and implement fee arrangements that meet client budget requirements and firm objectives.
  • Support partners in client pricing conversations and strategy discussions.
  • Oversee pricing model development and ensure analyses meet quality standards.
  • Prepare financial pricing models and analyses to project outcomes for alternative fee arrangements.
  • Establish pricing metrics to improve individual proposals and broader pricing initiatives.
  • Review fee arrangements, engagement terms, and special provisions for compliance with firm policies.
  • Track competitive market data and pricing trends across regions and practice areas.
  • Maintain and enhance litigation task-based billing benchmarks and detailed litigation workstream analyses.
  • Develop relationships with lead partners, identify benchmark matters, and create template pricing models.
  • Oversee the recording of pitches and budget estimates and implement budgets within tracking systems.
  • Monitor the performance of key matters and identify practice-specific and industry-specific fee arrangements.
  • Design and implement reporting and forecasting tools to help partners manage client engagements against budget.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop pricing analysts.
  • Participate in hiring, training, departmental projects, and operational planning.
  • Oversee employee performance, attendance, and compliance with firm policies.
Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, database reporting, and relational databases.
  • Familiarity with Aderant or similar legal billing systems.
  • Experience with annual budgeting, financial analysis, and project ownership.
  • Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, business analytics, and statistical methods.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pricing, rates, budgeting, financial analysis, or a related role within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Experience with Aderant or other law firm accounting software preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
