Job description

One of our customers, a printing company specializing in the manufacture of flexible packaging, is looking for a Flexographic Press Operator.
Your detailed tasks will be as follows:
  • Organize the day's set-ups on the presses so as to minimize non-productive time. In collaboration with your production supervisor, prioritize activities to meet production schedule deadlines.
  • Ensure the supply of raw materials and complete the relevant control document (scrap containers, cardboard tubes (core), wood pallets, inks, solvent, etc.).
  • Read the file and ensure that all required inputs are at the presses, and that all instructions are clear.
  • Carry out press start-up according to procedures, following specifications requested in production files and performing all required quality control tests at press start-up.
  • Ensure manufacturing standards are met (tension, pressure, inkspec, positioning, register, speed, drying, clean cut, etc.). Seek solutions to press technical difficulties.
  • Complete quality control documents and perform all required laboratory tests on all rollers.
  • Repair minor mechanical breakdowns and report any anomalies to the production supervisor and repair department (work order).
  • Train and supervise press helpers and press operators. Follow instructions from and collaborate with senior colleagues. Work as a team on all presses at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with work procedures, plant regulations and occupational health and safety standards at all times.
  • Assist all press operators with technical and procedural matters. Suggest and implement preventive and corrective measures to reduce the rate of non-conformances and rejects. Solve press technical difficulties; Maintain a clean and tidy work environment at all times.
  • Work on all presses and be familiar with all their accessories as well as certain laboratory equipment. Perform plate mounting and ink mixing. May be called upon to become a journeyman. Complete reports and provide assistance at all other workstations.

Work schedule:
1 evening shift (3 p.m. to 11 p.m.)-8-color UTECO Emerald press
1 night shift (11 p.m. to 7 a.m.)-8-color UTECO Emerald press
1 night shift (11 p.m. to 7 a.m.)-6-color Bielloni press
Evening and night shifts required (depending on training and production needs)
Bonus : 2$/hour (evening)

-Secondary studies
  • Professional training in printing/flexography (an asset)
