Job description

Job Purpose/Objective:
The Warehouse Lead is responsible for directing and performing daily inventory and warehouse activities within assigned temperature-controlled areas or warehouse zones. This role ensures proper product rotation, quality assurance, inventory accuracy, labeling, presentation, replenishment, and put-away processes are consistently maintained. The Warehouse Lead works closely with supervisors and warehouse teams to support operational efficiency and provide internal customers with high-quality, presentable products.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Warehouse Operations
  • Monitor and maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, PO receipts, warehouse transfer receipts, and inventory controls.
  • Review inbound purchase orders and warehouse transfers to ensure all products are properly received and accounted for.
  • Prepare storage locations for inbound goods and assist with inventory replenishment activities.
  • Utilize WMS and operational systems to review pick locations, storage assignments, and replenishment needs.
  • Assist with monthly and periodic inventory counts.

Quality Assurance & Product Rotation
  • Ensure products meet company quality standards and comply with FIFO rotation procedures.
  • Review dated products to ensure items remain within acceptable shelf-life parameters.
  • Remove damaged, spoiled, or non-compliant products from inventory.
  • Monitor overstock inventory to prevent missed rotation and product waste.
  • Maintain temperature monitoring procedures within assigned areas.

Presentation & Labeling
  • Ensure all products in pick and storage locations are properly labeled and organized.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and presentable warehouse conditions.
  • Verify pallet license plates and product labeling accuracy.
  • Ensure damaged or compromised packaging is not placed into inventory or distributed.

Leadership & Communication
  • Supervise and support up to two warehouse associates or leads within assigned areas.
  • Coordinate daily operational adjustments with supervisors and management.
  • Communicate inventory discrepancies, quality concerns, and operational improvement recommendations.

Support warehouse operations by assisting with put-away, replenishment, and receiving activities as needed
Working Conditions/Job Environment:
  • Degree of physical demands (strength) are usually associated with this position.

  • Moving pallet jacks and forklifts. Exposure to refrigerated environment on a regular basis.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Experience in operating powered warehouse equipment preferred.
  • Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience required.

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of produce commodities and inventory handling.
