POSITION: Preschool Tuition 3's Teacher - 35 hours per week
LOCATION: Gallimore Elementary
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. BA or higher in early childhood education, child development, or a child-related field OR
2. BA degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or a valid Michigan elementary teaching certificate with Early Childhood endorsement (ZA) or (ZS) OR
3. Associate's degree of higher in early childhood education or child development OR
4. Valid Child development associate credential with 480 hours or more of experience OR
5. Meets LARA Lead Caregiver Qualifications guidelines to be eligible for the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience teaching preschool or kindergarten level children preferred.
2. Experience and/or ability to implement a developmental curriculum.
3. Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in early childhood education.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Plans and implements a developmentally appropriate program for preschool children per department and state licensing guidelines.
  2. Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills.
  3. Maintains program equipment and supplies and maintain an up-to-date inventory list.
  4. Develops effective communication with the families of children enrolled in the program.
  5. Provides a safe, nurturing, child-oriented environment and meet Environmental Health guidelines regarding cleanliness.
  6. Assists Early Childhood Director in ensuring site meets state licensing regulations, Great start to Quality standards and accreditation guidelines.
  7. Completes all appropriate paperwork including but not limited to lesson plans, purchase order requisitions, attendance records and accident reports.
  8. Observes and assesses student growth using formal and informal instruments and maintains a portfolio for each child.
  9. Conducts conferences with parents throughout the year.
  10. Supervises classroom assistants and provide input for performance evaluation.
  11. Bending, lifting, and overhead work required.
  12. Other duties as assigned by the Early Childhood Director.

HOURS: 35 hours per week
Schedule: Monday - Friday
BEGINNING DATE: August 25, 2026
New hires will be required to attend a three-day orientation
August 19-21, 2026
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • TB Test upon employment
  • Criminal History (FBI/State) background check upon recommendation for employment. Fingerprinting at the cost of the employee.
  • Additional background check paid for by employer
  • Completion of online training required by State of Michigan
  • After successful completion of 90 day probationary period:
    • Nine (9) paid holidays, one (1) paid personal holiday, ten (10) personal/sick days
    • Single Health Benefits, Family Dental/Vision Benefits
