Job description

Do you love food and enjoy helping customers find their next favorite meal?

At Josephโ€™s Classic Market, weโ€™re more than a traditional supermarket โ€” weโ€™re an alternative to a restaurant. Our Prepared Foods Department is the centerpiece of our stores, offering Chef-Prepared, restaurant-quality meals that set us apart. As a Prepared Foods Associate, you play a key role in bringing that experience to life by helping guests select items theyโ€™ll love while delivering warm, knowledgeable, and attentive customer service.

Youโ€™re not just serving food โ€” youโ€™re helping create convenient, high-quality dining experiences for our customers every single day.

Growth & Learning at Josephโ€™s

We believe in developing our team from within. As a Prepared Foods Associate, youโ€™ll gain hands-on experience in food presentation, service excellence, product knowledge, and department operations. Youโ€™ll work alongside experienced team members and have opportunities to expand your skills, take on additional responsibilities, and grow into leadership or specialized culinary roles for those who demonstrate initiative and dedication.

Routine Tasks:

  • Provide excellent customer service by offering product knowledge, answering questions, and making personalized suggestions
  • Maintain product freshness through regular rotation and quality checks
  • Restock and rotate displays to ensure visual appeal and freshness
  • Prepare salads and pack out soups, pastas, sauces, and other prepared foods
  • Plate, package, and present items to meet Josephโ€™s quality and appearance standards
  • Accurately package, label, and price self-service items
  • Follow food safety and sanitation protocols at all times
  • Operate basic counter equipment, including scales, knives, and other counter equipment
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Prior kitchen or food preparation experience preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Basic math and reading skills
  • Strong attention to detail and visual presentation
  • Team player with a positive, service-oriented attitude
  • A passion for serving people

Physical & Work Environment

A Prepared Foods Associate works primarily within the Prepared Foods department. This role involves walking and standing for extended periods and lifting products weighing up to 50 pounds. The position includes frequent interaction with customers and fellow team members in a fast-paced, food-focused environment.

Benefits Include:

  • Positive Work Environment
  • Competitive Pay
  • Health, Dental and Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) Plan
  • Paid Time Off & Personal Days
  • 20% Employee Discount
