The Logistics & Distribution Manager translates business and supply chain priorities into executable logistics plans, providing leadership across planning, shipping, receiving, warehousing, distribution, material flow, transportation, and vertically integrated supply operations. The role partners closely with both West Warwick and Corporate departments to ensure material availability, optimize product flow, and deliver strong customer experience.
The Logistics & Distribution Manager is accountable for establishing consistent processes, controls, and performance expectations across the logistics network while developing people, improving cost and service performance, and building the capabilities necessary to support continued business growth.

  • Lead a safety-first culture across shipping, receiving, warehousing, distribution, material handling, and supplier operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards, OSHA requirements, DOT and transportation requirements, environmental expectations, and established material-handling practices.
  • Establish and maintain standards for product handling, packaging, storage, loading, and transportation to protect product quality and minimize damage.
  • Partner with Quality and Operations to address transportation damage, material discrepancies, supplier concerns, and other logistics-related quality issues.

  • Establish daily and weekly logistics priorities based on production schedules, customer demand, inventory requirements, and transportation capacity.
  • Partner with Planning, Operations, and Commercial to prioritize customer requirements, including backlog recovery, expedited orders, and critical customer needs.
  • Manage carrier execution and transportation performance, including routing, freight utilization, service levels, expedites, spot freight, and freight-cost management.

Material Flow, Inventory & Vertically Integrated Supply
  • Lead inbound material flow from vertically integrated supplier operations to ensure manufacturing requirements are supported with the right material, quantity, quality, and timing.
  • Establish effective replenishment and material-movement processes between supplier, manufacturing, and distribution locations.
  • Drive inventory accuracy across shipping, receiving, warehouse, and supplier operations through disciplined transactions, cycle-count processes, reconciliation, and root-cause corrective action.

People Leadership & Organizational Capability
  • Lead, coach, and develop shipping, receiving, warehouse, and distribution leadership and employees.
  • Build a strong leadership pipeline through development of managers, supervisors, group leads, and high-potential employees.
  • Partner with Human Resources Business Partner to improve staffing, onboarding, training, qualification, retention, engagement, and cross-training aligned with business needs.
  • Create a culture of ownership in which employees understand how safety, inventory accuracy, freight performance, and execution directly impact the customer and business.

Strategy, Financial Performance & Growth
  • Partner with the Senior Business Director and Supply Chain leadership to define and execute logistics and distribution strategies supporting West Warwick business objectives.
  • Own logistics performance against budget and key cost drivers, including freight, premium freight, labor, overtime, warehousing, material handling, packaging, and other controllable logistics expenses.
  • Develop strategies to improve transportation utilization, reduce premium freight, optimize warehouse capacity, and lower overall cost-to-serve

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Logistics, Operations, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent logistics leadership experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in logistics, distribution, warehousing, manufacturing, or supply chain operations.
  • Strong understanding of shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, transportation management, inventory control, and material flow.
  • Experience leading operations across multiple departments or locations preferred.
