Job description


Educational Sites - An Armed Security Officer on an educational site is responsible for ensuring efficient and professional security operations at schools within the assigned schools or location. This position actively works onsite to help secure school buildings, grounds, students, staff, and visitors by identifying, reporting, and deterring suspicious or unsafe activities while maintaining a safe and secure learning environment. The school Security Officer is held to a high standard of physical and mental capabilities to ensure the students, parents, and staff are protected.
Other Armed Assignments - An Armed Security Officer for all other armed assignments is responsible for protecting people, property, and assets by maintaining a visible security presence, monitoring for suspicious activity, enforcing site rules and safety procedures, and responding to emergencies or incidents. Duties may include conducting patrols, controlling access to facilities, and preparing incident reports
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
  • Work to ensure the assigned premises and/or people are kept safe and secure
  • Work closely and cooperatively with staff at assigned premises to ensure they are safe and secure
  • React and respond quickly to dangerous/hazardous situations
  • Monitor assigned location with high degree of attentiveness to surroundings
  • Communicate effectively to site team using assigned radio
  • Identify and correct inefficiencies, liabilities, and safety hazards at work sites
  • Utilize the company's current scheduling and approving her/his weekly hours for payroll
  • Provide detailed information to authorities as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or management
Required Skills / Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail is a must
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and adaptability to other related software
  • Judgment and high level of integrity
  • High initiative and reliable
  • Ability to work in a culture of diversity, inclusivity, collaboration, and teamwork
  • Must be able to pass the firearms test administered by Premier Security Solutions
  • Safely and legally operate a motor vehicle
  • Refer to the Standard Operating Procedures in Employee Manual regarding Use of Force
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, or walk for 100% of the shift as needed
  • Must be able to quickly ascend and descend stairs and move as needed to secure premises
  • Must be able to quickly physically engage to de-escalate and/or respond to security or safety threats.
  • Must have excellent visual and auditory acuity to see, hear, and interpret observable people, things, behavior, and speech
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
Position Type and Expected Work Conditions
  • Full-Time or Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
  • Involves work assignments that vary in days of the week and time of day to relate to the 24/7 security operations of the client
  • Travel to other locations may be needed
  • Both indoors and outdoors possible, regardless of weather
Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid CPL or Active/ Retired Police ID and be able to provide documentation
  • Valid Driver's License and be able to provide documentation
  • Required to complete any/all continued training/education classes provided by Premier Security Solutions, relevant to position
  • Be able to pass annual qualifications including firearm standards with duty weapon
  • Law enforcement, corrections, or military experience required
