Purpose of the Position: Under general supervision, provides professional public nursing services in accordance with Georgia State Nursing Protocols. Provides pregnancy-related services in the following programs Presumptive Pregnancy Medicaid (PEMD), Perinatal Case Management (PCM), Babies Born Healthy (BBH-formerly Green Plan), and other grant funded projects. Responsibilities include but not limited to: screening and assessing low-income prenatal women for services, conducting perinatal psycho-social needs assessment, educating and referring pregnant women to public and community agencies for resources, and providing case management services. In the event of an emergency requiring activation of Cobb & Douglas Public Health, performs duties and responsibilities as assigned. "This position works to promote and protect the health and safety of the residents of Cobb and Douglas Counties."

Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level PH Registered Nurse 1 (HCP190) or position equivalent.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

Screens, assesses, counsels, and educates low-income pregnant women on pregnancy-related services provided by the health department.

Maintains working knowledge of Presumptive Medicaid, Perinatal Case Management (PCM), & Diagnostic Screening Preventative Services (DSPS) policies. Attends mandatory PCM trainings and conferences to maintain knowledge, skills, and abilities in maternal/child health field.

Counsel clients in a professional manner, keeping all patient information confidential and secure in accordance with HIPAA policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual preferred.

Have a minimum one-year experience working with prenatal and postpartum women and their newborns in a public health, hospital, case management or obstetrical office setting. This experience must have been acquired within the previous five years.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Computer data entry experience with ability to type more than 40 words per minute.

Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, internet searches and worked with medical-based patient information systems.

Work Conditions & Physical Demands:

General office setting with sitting 80% of the time.

Some travel and possible overnight stay required for trainings, meetings and conferences.

Remote Work: ***Employees authorized for remote/hybrid work must reside and perform their job duties exclusively within the state of Georgia. Remote/hybrid work arrangements outside the state are not permitted under current policy.

Salary Information: $61,706.94 Annually | Pay Grade L
