About the role
The Campus Pastor serves as the primary shepherd and spiritual leader of the Smyrna campus of Christ Covenant Church. Christ Covenant is a growing Southern Baptist Convention affiliated church based in Atlanta, GA. This is a full-time pastoral role responsible for advancing Christ Covenant's mission to make Jesus known through faithful preaching, shepherding care, and strategic leadership. Below are expectations that this position will be responsible for and accountable for during each of the performance review cycles.
What you'll do
Preaching & Teaching
  • Write and deliver biblically sound, gospel-centered sermons that align with the broader Christ Covenant preaching schedule to the Smyrna congregation at Sunday services.
  • Ensure all teaching at the Smyrna campus aligns with the culture, core values, and beliefs of Christ Covenant.

Pastoral Care & Shepherding
  • Lead monthly membership interest class, First Sunday, at the Smyrna campus for prospective new members.
  • Mentor and support campus Elders and Deacons through one-on-one conversations and shared ministry engagement.
  • Provide pastoral care (hospital visits, baptisms, communion observance, funerals, etc.) for Smyrna campus members
  • Support and strengthen discipleship pathways through classes, groups, and equipping opportunities

Campus Vision & Execution
  • Partner with the Senior Pastor and Executive Team to implement the overall vision of Christ Covenant at the Smyrna campus.
  • Implement church-wide initiatives, such as Reach the World, Bless the City, and other strategic emphases, at the Smyrna campus
  • Develop and execute campus-specific ministry initiatives aligned with the church's mission.
  • Identify and act upon ministry opportunities, outreach strategies, and community engagement efforts.
  • Cultivate and build meaningful relationships within the surrounding Smyrna community to advance outreach and engagement.

General Leadership and Operational Supervision
  • Oversees campus staff to ensure a healthy workplace environment
  • Collaborate with the centralized teams such as Finance, HR, Communications, etc. to steward campus planning and oversight
  • Ensure healthy systems, communication, and ministry execution at the campus level.

Connection to the Broader Church
  • Attend weekly central staff meeting, teaching meeting, and fully participate in the overall leadership culture of the church as a member of the Lead Team
  • Collaborate with with the Executive Team, Leadership Team, and central ministry pastors and directors on all functions of the church

Qualifications
Bachelor's (B.A.) in related field and Master of Divinity (MDiv.) degree preferred
At least 5 to 7 years of ministry experience
Understanding of and willingness to minister within the church's statement of beliefs
Character congruent with the biblical requirements for leaders (1 Tim. 3:1-13; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1:5-9)
