Founded 20 years ago and headquartered in Chicago, theย DV Group of financial services firms has grown to more than 600 people operating throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Since spinning out of a large brokerage firm in 2016, DV Trading has rapidly scaled as an independent proprietary trading firm utilizing its own capital, trading strategies, and risk management methodologies to provide liquidity to worldwide financial markets and hedging opportunities to commodity producers and users. Now, DV group affiliates include two broker dealers, a cryptocurrency market making firm, and a bourgeoning investment adviser.

Overview:

DV is looking for an Operational Risk Manager who has worked close to a trading business, understands how trading controls operate in practice, and is comfortable independently investigating issues and driving work across multiple teams. This role focuses on market access and pre-trade risk controls, trading limit review and control testing, and operational/trading incident management, working directly with Trading, Technology, Risk, and Compliance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage market access and pre-trade risk controls
  • Perform trading limit review and control testing
  • Manage operational/trading incidents, including independently investigating issues and driving work across multiple teams to completion
  • Work directly with traders and Technology teams
  • Prepare risk-related documentation and respond to information requests, reviews, and counterparty risk questionnaires
  • Work effectively with Trading, Technology, Risk, and Compliance
  • Support new trading businesses, products, systems, and regulatory initiatives
  • Improve and automate risk processes
  • Develop policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • Approximately 5-10 years of relevant experience in operational risk, trading risk, electronic trading controls, or a related financial markets role
  • Strong preference for experience at a proprietary trading firm, market maker, broker-dealer, or other fast-paced trading environment; candidates from larger financial institutions can be a fit if they have relevant experience supporting an electronic execution or algorithmic trading business
  • Strong understanding of market access/pre-trade risk controls, trading limits, control testing, and incident management
  • Experience working directly with traders and Technology teams
  • Experience preparing risk-related documentation and responding to information requests, reviews, or counterparty risk questionnaires is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree
